'net use' fails within a logon script on win95b
I have noticed a very strange problem on a base Windows 95b computer. On a clean win95b computer with no additional software, the drive mappings in the logon scripts fail. The logon script uses 'net use' to connect the client to a share on the samba server. The server is running RH7.1 and Samba 2.2.2. The samba server is setup as a domain appliance and uses winbind, passing...

R-beta: R62.3 Win95b error
Hi, I have recently upgraded hardware and now have a run-time error with R62.3 when I have built it from scratch with EGCS 1.1 (Guido's original binaries run OK). (333MHzK2, 64MBRam, 1.5GBHD, Win95b). Anyone any ideas ? R : Copyright 1998, The R Development Core Team Version 0.62.3 Beta (Sept 8, 1998) R is free software and comes with ABSOLUTELY NO WARRANTY. Problems with Self extracting zip files
...takes no time at all (500kb/sec). I would say it takes about 10 times as long to unzip when run directly from the samba share. This happens will all self-extracting exe files, and also from any share that I create. Any clues? The samba server is running 1.9.17p4 on FreeBSD (486dx4), the client is Win95b on a P133, and I have a very standard and basic smb.conf (sorry, I couldn't send it right now). I'll send more details if anyone has any ideas. Thanks, Jeff Bond --------------------------------------------------- Jeffery Bond <mailto:jeffbond@compuserve.com> <http://ourworld.c...

Decoder speed: Test on slow machine
...ello everybody, today I had some time to test PeterĀ“s decoding plugin on a very slow machine. My setup: - Pentium "classic" @ 50 MHz (underclocked!) - Mainboard with Mercury Chipset (I think) - CD-ROM and HDD in PIO-Mode (CPU intensive) - MAD16 Soundcard (ISA slot, CPU intensive) - Win95B, Winamp 2.76, Decoder Plugin 1.16 (RC 2) The hardware setup is something like the "worst case possible" as data transfer is CPU intensive (PIO mode IDE, ISA soundcard), the FSB is only 50 MHz (so Cache, Memory and PCI are slow, too) and the CPU is underclocked (there never was a 50 MHz P...

smbmount questions
Howdy all: I'm trying to use smbmount to mount a win9x share and copy some files for backup, eventually to run as a script invoked via cron. I have RH6.1/samba 2.0.5a, and the windoze box is win95b. If I do the standard mount (smbmount //winbox/backup /mnt/smb04) I have to be root. Also, after it's mounted, I can't create any files there as a normal user (even though the mount-point /mnt/smb04 is owned by me). The smbmount man page says: To mount an smb file system, I suggest usin...

long username - netlogon problem - access denied
I'm running samba 2.2.4 on rh 7.2. Everything's been working well for months. I use the domain logon feature to map drives when '98 users logon to the domain. Recently I've had a couple machines refuse to process the logon script and I can't figure out why. Here's the Windows output: C:\WINDOWS> Access denied - Z:\ALEXA~03.BAT C:\WINDOWS> Access denied -

Interesting Printing Issue
At one of our sites we have a Solaris 2.51 box running 1.9.17. All of the clients are win95B. When these users print(printing is spooled on the Solaris machine) all applications on the PC are frozen until the printing is finished. Pretty cool, but not for the users. My suspicion is that there is some information that samba is sending to the PC's that is confusing them. Any experie...

Linux 2.2.13 Intel samba-2.0.7pre2 will Sig11 and die on me right after processing NetBIOS name = FOO in smb.conf. Not always, but sometimes I have to start smbd 2 or 3 times. It always fails there. network connection crashes
Since I get any response I try again -- hoping that somebody have ANY idea! A network with a RedHat 6.0 linux server and samba 2.0.6 and Windows 95 clients: When I for example copy large (binary?) files from local drives to one of my Samba shares I VERY often experience that the network connection to the Win95 machine crashes. The lovely Windows Blue-Screen message about an exception appears,

Samba not working
I have similar problem. However, I have noticed that without applying the sp3 on either NT4 workstation or Server. It seems to work fine. As soon as sp3 is applied the samba does not work. Error loggin in occurs. I remove tcpip support on nt and reinstalled, there was a conversion from winsock1.1 to winsock2.0. Also in the smb.conf there is a statement to the effect NOTCPDELAY, that word

Setting up Samba on Red Hat Linux 6.1
pn] I'm trying to set up Samba on a Linux Red Hat 6.1 machine. Other machines on my network are NT4 and Win98. I generally followed a NHT, except that I have a domain using user-level access for shares instead of a share-level access. I couldn't get it to work, and tried diagnosing it using the document at http://us1.samba.org/samba/docs/DIAGNOSIS.html. Several tests are not working as

Howto Samba and Win2K?
I've got a home network with using win2k pro. Do I need to set Samba up as a pdc for the w2k machines to connect? Currently I've got my w2k machines set up as a workgroup and simply set up Samba as a member of that workgroup. My problem is that I cannot connect to it. I see my samba box in my network neighborhood, however, I cannot browse it. I'm running Samba 2.2.2 that came with

Win98 and Samba
Has any tried to connect to a samba server while using Win98 beta 2 as a client? I keep getting incorrect username/password errors in the samba log file and am unable to either map a drive or connect to a shared resource. With debug level set to 4 on the samba serve the main error seems to be error in packet at line 129 for cmd=117 (or something like that). If anyone else finds a fix for this,
