Win311 Q: login & Windows EXIT
Hi
Maybe this is a common stupid problem, but when I try to login to
Samba server from Win311 (right after its start) Windows exits
very quickly to DOS prompt without error messages.
If I enter Windows without loginning to Samba server, and try to login
then it hangs (mouse is still active) showing me its watch.
I have a couple of Win311 hosts and this happends with all of them.
What cou...

printing
Hello
As my subject already says, I want to print under wine.
Added printer=on to the conf-file, but it doesn't help.
I'am running an win311 routeplanner (my newerone doesn't work) but when I
try to print there is no printer availeble.
I tryed to find some good howto's about printing but didn't find any.
Why can't I sucseed and does corel-photopaint a perfect print-job?

Samba 2.0.3 and NT Clients
Hello everbody,
I have a small problems with Samba 2.0.3/SuSE 6.1 and my Windows NT Clients:
As long as I'm working with Win311/95/98 clients everything is OK, but when
I try to connect with a WinNT 4.0 client, I get the following errormessage
(translated from german, so the US message may sound a little different):
Unable to connect to \\linux_server_01
Unable to log on with this account from this station

Issue with old style dos truncation
...but when you run the software it complains it cannot
find the licence file, you then try and tell it to browse for the file and
its gets all the way to where the directory should be but instead of a
studyscan folder I get a "S1STSC~B" Folder.
Now the window itself looks like an old style win311 window, so im assuming
its has some sort of dos issues with the 8 character's, but in windows and
in a command prompt under 2k it looks as it should i.e StudyScan. So why is
samba truncating it to be "S1STSC~B" instead of "STUDYS~1" ?
Any help gratefully received

Favorite print command for SAMBA on Sol 2.5.1
...ee about an hour apart. Obviously, I see these problems more
on the printers that are used the most.
The clients are using the HP 5si MX PS driver. The problem occurs with
different users, different versions of the HP 5si MX PS driver on different
Win95 clients using different versions of Win95, Win311, & NT, printing to
different HP5siMX printers (we have 10 of them).
The common element is the Solaris Print server.
Version Details:
The server machine has the Recommended Patches for 2.5.1 from April. It
is Samba version 1.9.18p4 compiled on this machine - for this machine. The

Problem getting win95 machines to change password
...dows clients to change passwords
#unix password sync = true #? this isn't in the man page!
passwd program = /usr/bin/passwd %u
passwd chat = "*New password:*" %n\r "*Retype new password:*" %n\r

I can change password quite happily from a win311 client, but as soon as
I try on a win95 client, I get the message 'The password could not be
changed because the server does not support this function' or words to
that effect.
Does anyone have any idea what is going on here? I can't think what
would be different about doing it from one...

Desperate -- I'll even pay -- winbind/samba -- challenge/response password authentication failed
No kidding folks, I need to get this working and am willing to pay money
for useful help!
I'm having problems getting "challenge/response password authentication
failed" with the command "wbinfo -a DOM+W2kusername%password". I
presume this will prevent me from using my Windows usernames and
passwords to log into my Linux box.
My environment is a newly configured Redhat
