Add Win2008R2 DC to Samba4 domain
Has anyone successfully added a Win2008R2 DC to a Samba4 domain? The issue I am encountering is the sysvol/netlogon shares are not created. I can manually create them and copy files, but as soon as I demote/forcefully remove the Samba4 server, the Win2008R2 server refuses to serve requests for the domain. I cannot even manage it through...

Remove Win2008R2 from Domain, remove missing DC from domain
Hi! I'm almost done with a migration from Win2k to Samba4. To get this going I had to install a Win2008R2 Server as an intermediate server, now I want to get rid of it. I found a bug that Win2008R2 can not be demoted from Samba Domain - so I think I've to remove it somehow else. But I couldn't find anything about that in the docs and on google. So anyone out there with a little help on th...

Error joining Samba 4.7.4 DC to existing Win2008R2 domain
...--> samdom .EXT --> .LOCAL ... Another thing that comes to my mind is that the 2008R2 domain was upgraded from an initial Win2000. Win2000-->Samba direct migration is not possible because Samba requires at least a Win2003 domain. So the complete upgrade was Win2000 (SRVAD-OLDOLD) --> Win2008R2 (SRVAD-OLD) --> Domain/forest functional level upgrade --> Samba 4.7.4 migration. Could there be something wrong/unexpected in current Win2008R2 domain config? It seems not to me because Windows client machines work ok and the domain seems to function properly. win2008r2 update on centos 6 host made system unbootable
...the next boot it would fall back to the old virtio driver from Red Hat. I tried installing the current stable drivers from this URL: https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Windows_Virtio_Drivers But Windows refuses and says the driver is already up-to-date. What worries me is that I want to update other win2008r2 guests as well but now fear that they will all be rendered unbootable by such an update. Regards, Dennis

...> It is also desirable to check the access rights to DomainDnsZones and subfolders, this can be done through the ADSI editor. Thanks Denis, one of the screenshots attached to your message (reattached here) turned on the light on my issue, you're the winner ;) It seems that my Win2000-->Win2008R2 DNS upgrade went wrong or, at least, it was uncomplete. I was completely missing the new "_msdcs.samdom.local" zone, I only had a subdomain "_msdcs" under the main "samdom.local" domain. All DNS tests I've done worked, because they were returning records from &q...

win2008r2 update on centos 6 host made system unbootable
Hi, today we ran into a strange problem: When performing a regular Windows 2008r2 update apparently among other things the following was installed: "SUSE - Storage Controller - SUSE Block Driver for Windows" Previously the disk drive was using the Red Hat virtio drivers which worked just fine but after the reboot after the update I just get a blue screen indicating that Windows cannot

The Suse driver is apparently an optional update that gets delivered using the regular Microsoft update mechanism. adding a win2008r2 server as an additional dc to a samba4 dc created domain
I'm using 4.2.2, sernet, on Debian Jessie. Bare bones recently created dc. I can join workstations, add users, groups using the samba-tool and and the microsoft remote tools. Now I'm trying to add a freshly installed 2008R2 as an additional dc. All seems to go fine (I get an error about dns delegation which I think I can ignore), it finds the domain and the site name, but the join
