getent passwd does not list trusted users
...ave an ldap backend for everything (unix+samba
accounts, idmapping for domain trusts.) The Samba server is a PDC for a
domain we can call "SAMBA." Each samba account is tied to a unix
account.
I have a one-way domain trust setup with a Windows 2003 domain which we
can call "WIN2003." SAMBA trusts WIN2003. "getent passwd" and "getent
group" seem to fundamentally be working (depending on syntax) BUT
"getent passwd" does NOT list trusted users.

sharing users home dirs for Win2003 and linux
I've setup a linux box with winbind as a member in Win2003 AD and
everything works fine.
I want to share the Win2003 users home dirs with the linux box, i.e.
when a user logs into the linux box, after he's authenticated through
winbind, he should have his home dir from the Windows box, how can I do
that??
Obviously I have to use CIFS to mount the dirs,...

problems mounting Win2003 Server Share - smbclient is working smbmount is not
Hi,
this is my first post to this list.
I have to mount an Win2003 SmallBusinessServer share to my linux box.
So far so good.
The user "user" exists with the same pass on the linux-box like in the
ActiveDirectory at the Win2003-Server.
I added the user with smbpasswd -a user .
I joined the domain with:
net rpc join -S domain -U user
mount -t smbfs -o u...

beta3 winbind and win2003 server
I'm using samba3-beta3 successfully against a Win2000 AD domain
controller, but cannot get winbind woking with a Win2003 AD domain

The samba log gives:

cli_negprot: SMB signing is mandatory and we have disabled it.

Has anyone gotten winbind to work...

lost trust with win2k -> win2003 upgrade
Hi all.
We are trying to migrate our domain controllers to win2003 and
for some reason, samba loses its trust relationship with the server
once the PDC has been upgraded.
I'm running Samba 2.2.11.
Normally, "wbinfo -t" returns "Secret is good.", but after the server
was upgraded to win2003, the trust was lost and it started saying

Samba3+KBC
Hi list,
I run a Samba-3.0.0beta3 / Heimdal-0.6 system and want it to be the BDC of
our Win2003-controlled domain. The reason is that we had to move from our
perfectly working samba-PDC to a windows system and I want to keep the user
profiles on the old, but stronger, Linux box(now on SuSE8.2). I get(kinit) a
ticket of the Win2003 without any problem, even for admin users. But If I

Rgd. publick key authentication failure in Win2003 !!
...nSSH tool which helped us a lot in testing our SSH-SFTP client applications. Your tool is developed as per the standards and we suggested the same to our customers also to use with our client applications.
Actually now I am facing some problem when I try to connect to OpenSSH server installed in Win2003 using Public key authentication. But surprisingly password authentication is succeeded always.
Can you please let me know if there are any specific steps to be followed while configuring the server in Win2003 w.r.t public key authentication. Currently I am using OpenSSH4.3P2 version.

This would be usual way for such a migration. But you can't use rsync,
because it would not replicate the Windows ACLs to the Samba share. I
would suggest to just copy the SysVol cont...

Problem with RPC and Win2003 Server
Hello,
I have big trouble with the domainlogon. My Win2003 server say, that the
RPC-Server isn?t available. This problem comes sometimes and I can't see
anything in the logs.
That?s what I have:
- SAMBA PDC with LDAP-Backend (3.0.24-6 DEBIAN)
- SAMBA BDC with LDAP-Backend (3.0.24-6 DEBIAN)
- both servers are in the same network

Adding RFC2307 attributes to an existing Win2003 AD domain?
Running Samba 4.0.9, we have added a pair of Samba4 domain controllers
to an existing Win2003 domain.
How do we determine whether RFC2037 attributes already exist in the
domain? And how would we go about adding them to an already existing
domain?

NTLMv2 with win2003 AD question
...v2 and the only technique is using NetLogon. Am I right?
Besides, a 'TargetInfo' field is necessary to calculate NTLMv2 response.
However, I'm reading a proxy code these days and did some test on it.
It uses the MITM technique, that is so say, proxy returns the challenge of SMB server(win2003 AD) to browser. just like what 'JCIFS NTLM HTTP Authentication Filter' does.
Proxy uses 'SMB_COM_NEGOTIATE' and 'SMB_COM_SESSION_SETUP_ANDX' command to communicate with windows AD.
The topology is like this:

samba 3.0.2a & Win2003 AD controler
Hello samba experts !
I have a big problem with my samba 3.0.2a on debian. I use winbindd, which
seems to work (getent passwd/group and wbinfo -u works), and the net ads
join worked too, but the authentication with the AD controler, hosted on
Win2003 Server, fails.
