Request for Comments: Upgrades from 3.x to 4.0+
We're fast approaching the time for Gluster-4.0. And we would like to
set out the expected upgrade strategy and try to polish it to be as
user friendly as possible.
We're getting this out here now, because there was quite a bit of
concern and confusion regarding the upgrades between 3.x and 4.0+.

## Background
Gluster-4.0 will bring a newer management daemon, GlusterD-2.0 (GD2),

if doing an upgrade from 3.10.1 to 4.0 or 4.1, will I be able to access
volume without any challenge?
I am asking this because 4.0 comes with DHT2?

Very short answer, yes. Your volumes will remain the same. And you
will continue to access them the same way.

new user setup trouble
Hi again,
I am still trying to run Dovecot but persistently get the errors
Corrupted transaction log file and Lost transaction log file.
I cannot find any reference to this problem that will help, I have
checked the file permissions and locks and cannot see any obvious
cause.
Could somebody please advise what I might be doing wrong or direct me to
somewhere else that I can ask for or find help.

Upcoming upgrade of LLVM buildbot
Hello everyone,
The buildbot upgrade is entering the phase when the results to become
visible.
No change is required at this time on any of the builders. The bot owners
could upgrade the buildbot on build computers later, at their convenience,
as this is not on the critical path.
We are going to upgrade the staging bot first. Then, once that is stable
and all detected issues are resolved, we

does RIO improves folder listing and rebalance, when compared to 3.x?
if yes, do you have any performance data comparing RIO and DHT?

[LLVMdev] GIT mirrors
Hello Everyone
I'm going to rebuild GIT mirrors to provide more consistent tags / branches.
Basically, the contents will be the same, but naming scheme will change.
So, trunk will go to svn/trunk, branches/* will got to svn/branches/*
and tags/* will go to svn/tags/*
This might break some scripts, etc. So, if anyone has some objections
wrt this - please let me know.

Install qemu packages from ovirt instead of original.
Hi,
I have a KVM server running on Centos 7.5.

creating a certain type of matrix
Hi R users
I like to generate a certain type of matrix.
If there are 10 variables, the matrix will have nrow=10, ncol=((10/2))/5+1.
so the resulting matrix's dimension 10 by 2. If there are 50 variables the
dimension of the resulting matrix will be 50 by 6.
The arrangement of elements of this matrix is important to me and I can't
figure out how to arrange elements.
If I have 20

[PATCH] doc: fix out-of-tree build
It seems the mail you are referring to never made the list: it's not in
the archives and not in my mailbox. Take a look here:
http://lists.xiph.org/pipermail/flac-dev/2012-December/thread.html It's
probably still waiting for moderation.

[PATCH] doc: fix out-of-tree build
When building outside of the source tree, the Doxyfile needs to be
generated in the build tree and should point to the proper paths for
include directories and html footer.
The generated api files to install should also be taken from the build
tree instead of the source tree.

Issues when updating CentOS 7
Hi all,
I wanted to update my CentOS 7 install this morning and I started
getting the errors from below.
Any ideas on a fix?
They seem to be related to cinnamon which I actually don't use at all
(the machine was prepared by our IT at work and they install both
Gnome and Cinnamon by default).
Since I don't use it, I guess an option would be to remove it
altogether and then I will

Request for Comments: Upgrades from 3.x to 4.0+
Will the various client packages (centos in my case) be able to automatically handle the upgrade vs new install decision, or will we be required to do something manually to determine that?
It?s a little unclear that things will continue without interruption because of the way you describe the change from GD1 to GD2, since it sounds like it stops GD1. Early days, obviously, but if you could

[Gluster-devel] Request for Comments: Upgrades from 3.x to 4.0+
Just so I am clear the upgrade process will be as follows:
upgrade all clients to 4.0
rolling upgrade all servers to 4.0 (with GD1)
kill all GD1 daemons on all servers and run upgrade script (new clients
unable to connect at this point)
start GD2 ( necessary or does the upgrade script do this?)
I assume that once the cluster had been migrated to GD2 the glusterd
startup script will be smart

I am fooling with migrations. I am using postgresql. I put in my
