Request for Comments: Upgrades from 3.x to 4.0+
...Gluster-4.0. And we would like to
set out the expected upgrade strategy and try to polish it to be as
user friendly as possible.
We're getting this out here now, because there was quite a bit of
concern and confusion regarding the upgrades between 3.x and 4.0+.
---
## Background
Gluster-4.0 will bring a newer management daemon, GlusterD-2.0 (GD2),
which is backwards incompatible with the GlusterD (GD1) in
GlusterFS-3.1+. As a hybrid cluster of GD1 and GD2 cannot be
established, rolling upgrades are not possible. This meant that
upgrades from 3.x to 4.0 would require a volume downtime and...

Request for Comments: Upgrades from 3.x to 4.0+
if doing an upgrade from 3.10.1 to 4.0 or 4.1, will I be able to access
volume without any challenge?
I am asking this because 4.0 comes with DHT2?

Very short answer, yes. Your volumes will remain the same. And you
will continue to access them the same way.

Could somebody please advise what I might be doing wrong or direct me to
somewhere else that I can ask for or find help.

Upcoming upgrade of LLVM buildbot
...o change is required at this time on any of the builders. The bot owners
could upgrade the buildbot on build computers later, at their convenience,
as this is not on the critical path.
We are going to upgrade the staging bot first. Then, once that is stable
and all detected issues are resolved, we will upgrade the production bot.
I will need some help with testing, and will be asking to move some of the
builders temporarily to the staging. LLVM buildbot is a piece of critical
infrastructure, so more eyes and hands in making sure it works properly the
better.
I'll be posting updates and ETA...

if yes, do you have any performance data comparing RIO and DHT?

[LLVMdev] GIT mirrors
Hello Everyone
I'm going to rebuild GIT mirrors to provide more consistent tags / branches.
Basically, the contents will be the same, but naming scheme will change.
So, trunk will go to svn/trunk, branches/* will got to svn/branches/*
and tags/* will go to svn/tags/*
This might break some scripts, etc. So, if anyone has some objections
wrt this - please let me know.
PS: First clang.git will be converted. In any ca...

Install qemu packages from ovirt instead of original.

qemu-guest-agent-2.8.0-2.el7_5.1.x86_64
qemu-kvm-1.5.3-156.el7_5.5.x86_64
But, I want to install a new version of qemu from ovirt repositories. (This because I need live disk snapshots).
So I installed ovirt yum repository, run yum update and I see qemu will be updated (as you can see below in red)

creating a certain type of matrix
Hi R users
I like to generate a certain type of matrix.
If there are 10 variables, the matrix will have nrow=10, ncol=((10/2))/5+1.
so the resulting matrix's dimension 10 by 2. If there are 50 variables the
dimension of the resulting matrix will be 50 by 6.
The arrangement of elements of this matrix is important to me and I can't
figure out how to arrange elements.
If I have 20 vari...

[PATCH] doc: fix out-of-tree build
It seems the mail you are referring to never made the list: it's not in
the archives and not in my mailbox. Take a look here:
http://lists.xiph.org/pipermail/flac-dev/2012-December/thread.html It's
probably still waiting for moderation.

Issues when updating CentOS 7
...rors from below.
Any ideas on a fix?
They seem to be related to cinnamon which I actually don't use at all
(the machine was prepared by our IT at work and they install both
Gnome and Cinnamon by default).
Since I don't use it, I guess an option would be to remove it
altogether and then I will probably not have the update issues
anymore. But I would still try to find a proper way to solve this
Thanks in advance!

[Gluster-devel] Request for Comments: Upgrades from 3.x to 4.0+
Just so I am clear the upgrade process will be as follows:
upgrade all clients to 4.0
rolling upgrade all servers to 4.0 (with GD1)
kill all GD1 daemons on all servers and run upgrade script (new clients
unable to connect at this point)
start GD2 ( necessary or does the upgrade script do this?)
I assume that once the cluster had been m...
