I am setting up an Asterisk server to provide voice messaging in a campus setting. I am interested in how others have Asterisk set up in regards to firewalls and web interface access to minimize security risks.

Quick question ... I am interested in installing Asterisk and using SIP or IAX to connect to another system. I just downloaded the Centos 5.3 live-cd and booted the resulting disk. I do not see an icon to install from the cd! Did i get the wrong thing? I have a fixed allocation of bandwidth and hate to waste 700+ megs! Bob

I have been trying to run Centos 6 and 7 in virtualbox on this Fedora23 computer. Actually I also tried Scientific Linux and a DVD copy of Fedora 21 XFCE Live that I had on hand. I've just installed Centos 4.4 on a computer, replacing FC6, and the first thing I find is that DNS does not work no matter what I have in /etc/resolv.conf. It should at least work with my ISP's assigned server but doesn't. Numerical URL's work via the browser and ping. Is there something else I need to attend to? When I start yumex as user it displays but stops with an error message that the backend is not running. However "yumex --root" starts and runs normally.
