empty password
Samba-4.0.10 in AD mode. I need to have an account with an empty password. After checking the smb.conf manpage (and also smbpasswd manpage), I added to the smb.conf file: null passwords = Yes The result is a warning from commands like smbstatus: WARNING: The "null passwords" option is deprecated I cannot find the new option to achieve this. How is it supposed to be configured

Rsync not able to transfer over jumbo frames?
Hello, I have 2 network cards on my 2 of my computers that I am trying to transfer data on. The second network cards are specifically for transferring files between the two so I enabled jumble frames by setting the mtu to 9000. I seem to be able to connect between the two via ssh and other methods using this setting so I thought everything was working right until I tried rsync. I used the

Nagios, getting started
Hi List, I have noted a number of times, various comments on this list about Nagios, hence my questions. just been employed by an ISP and they want to upgrade their fairly extensive nagios monitoring. They are mostly an ubuntu lts shop, so 1st question What advantages does the RH/CentOS world have (if any?) over the ubuntu LTS world? They are talking about running the server on a vm, as I

Rails' inflections are messy
Yesterday, I opened a GitHub Issue<https://github.com/rails/rails/pull/7071> about moving Rails inflections to an initializer. The idea wasn''t received well, understandably, as generating a large initializer with new Rails apps is pretty unappealing. However, the core members seemed open to the discussion of alternatives continuing here. For those of you not in the know,
