Sernet repository
Hi All, If you've using yum and have added ftp.sernet...... to your yum.repos.d the paths have changed. The documentation on the Samba site is no longer accurate,I'm hoping someone will update this once I mention it? NTFS Attributes
Hi There, Debian squeeze, samba 3.3.3-1 I am currently trying to use a samba partition to backup windows machines to, and am always warned that the destination does not support NTFS attributes, hidden attributes and system attributes. Are there any config options to enable these in samba? or does samba not support mapping these to something on the linux side? Any help or links to documentation

Using samba4 to escalate privs.
Ye ol' sidHistory edit attack in new disguise using samba4. I don't think you can consider it to be a hack but I had a lot of fun playing about with ldbedit. Samba4 is wikked, it really opens up AD, I had a lot of fun setting it up. Check my blogg for my little sidHistory priv escalation tutorial (domain admin to enterprise admin). http://cosmoskey.blogspot.com/2010/08/online-sidhistory-edit-sid-injection.html <http://cosmoskey.blogspot.com/2010/08/online-sidhistory...

First attempt file access denied subsequent file accesses granted
Hi List, We?re running 3.0.28.el4.9 on CentOS 4.7 in a production environment with one minor annoyance. This is a very inconsistent behavior ,frequent enough top be annoying ,yet unpredictable enough to warrant this email. Our Samba server is serving up a wide variety of files but in this instance in particular are Visual Fox Pro tables (*.dbf). When a user wishes to open a Fox Pro

RE: Fox Pro DBF open problems Solved.....FOLLOW UP
...I wanted to provide the solution that proved to fix this problem. On this particular server I observed we had consumed all memory resources and were using a decent sized swap file. After installing more RAM the problem & symptoms have disappeared. FINALLY I have happy users. L. NT4 Machine Accounts/passwords expiring
Hi List, During a recent power outage my domain controller froze at the bios screen. So for all intents and purposes there was no PDC (nor BDC) for the domain. When I arrived on scene I restored order and rebooted the PDC,most machines were not affected, however several NT4 systems as well as my Samba Domain member servers (using domain security) all needed to be rejoined to the

Samba 3.3.7 Member server not using Ldap
Greetings List, I've got 2 identical Samba Member servers on my domain,of which the global section of the smb.conf is identical. My config file is below: The difference? One's a 64 bit OS the other is 32 (I don't think this is the issue). The 32 bit system runs flawlessly, the 64 bit OS does not and when I execute pdbedit -L it does not return the ldap database

Mount errors,....try try again
Warning this will be a lengthy post. I?ve been beating my head on my desk for days now. I have a Samba PDC in an NT4 domain. I have several domain member servers and a non domain member server. Versions really don?t matter but for the sake of argument the systems that are ?working? are all CENTOS 4.7 systems using 3.0.28 Samba. My procedure is this: I mount a Domain member share on the non

Samba Member server cannot access other Member servers
Dear List, I?ve got a Samba NT4 domain with multiple samba member servers serving files using domain security. Current member servers are all running CentOS 4.7 with 3.0.28-0.el4.9 I have no issues (except aging) with these systems. I?m upgrading a major file server with CentOS5.3 64 bit with Samba 3.0.33-3.7el5_3.1 ,it?s all setup and configured but here?s a show stopper for
