What are your thoughts about the "R programming" wiki-book ?
An R community member named Ajay wrote today about the "R programming" wiki-book project (link to Ajay's post<http://decisionstats.wordpress.com/2010/05/10/the-r-online-wikibook/>), and I would like to know what you think about the project: http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/R_Programming Ajay believes that > "What we need is a consolidated document that can add 1) show multiple > packages on the same topic (eg clustering) 2) be used as a handy reference > boo...

k-means cluster and plot labels
Hi, For my data, I followed the example of http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Data_Mining_Algorithms_In_R/Clustering/K-Means#Execution and got some very nice results. Despite the fact, that I want to achieve a bit more by clustering my data (stratification beyond case-control), the actual data-frame contains a column labeled "C" which holds a case-control...

glpk package missing?
...e glpk package on the list of available packages on my local CRAN mirror. I do see two packages labeled "Rglpk" and "glpkAPI", but as far as I can understand these just interface with an outside version of glpk, which I don't have. I also found an old link to R glpk in a Wikibooks page, but it now says "Package ?glpk? was removed from the CRAN repository." Is there a reason why the glpk package is no longer available? Can anyone suggest the easiest workaround? I tried but failed to install an outside version of glpk for windows. I am working on putting togethe...

Page width figures in Latex
bRotheRs & sisteRs, I am once again attempting to learn enough Latex voodoo to get something done, and failing comically. The document "RJAuthorguide.pdf" mentions that one can get page width figures through the use of the "figure*" or "table* environments, but despite considerable searching through the mail archives and reading Frank Harrell's discussion of

Hello All, Hope people won't mind my posting a LaTeX question here. I know a lot of people who use R are also using LaTeX. I'm in a bit of a rush to complete a document and am having trouble with one aspect of the formatting. @cert-authority for hostbased auth - sans shosts?
Hi, we're looking to reduce the number of host lists that need to be kept in sync in our system. (There are quite a few of them all over the place) OpenSSH CAs are an obvious solution for not having to keep all host keys in sync in /etc/ssh/known_hosts, however, while OpenSSH does support using a CA in conjunction with hostbased authentication, it still requires a list of all authorized

Entropy based feature selection in R
I need to use entropy based feature selection to reduce term space while doing text classification. Are there any R packages available that would help me do this? I can also make do with chi squared based algorithm, if there are packages for that. Thanks in advance.
