This should work right??? Any caveats that you guys know about?
...Firewall has sip fixed up and all VOIP related ports are wide open. This is the issue: We can make outgoing calls, but we can't receive calls when the grandstream is behind the firewall If we move the grandstream in front of the pix and give it a public ip, everything works fine. What is even wierder is the fact that one of our network users who is behind the pix firewall can use ATT's VOIP service just fine. Are there any things I should be looking for? In general is the setup above pretty common? I've looked through the Wiki and searched google many times but nothing that can give me...

any news about rsync and acl's?
...defined in terms of usernames so they'll have to have a common username database or a way of mapping from one to the other. Since ACLs are transferred into the native filesystem scheme on the destination, data that cannot be represented will be lost. For example, if you transfer some of the wierder NT ACEs onto a Solaris machine they'll be lost. This is the plan, anyhow. There is probably no perfect solution that both preserves things exactly when backups are restored, and also gives a best effort when going across platforms. -- Martin

Photoshop 5 troubles with samba
...with samba 1.9.18p10: In Photoshop 5, doing a File-Open and selecting a file intermittently produces an error from Photoshop: "The file cannot be opened because it is in use or was not closed properly" (<-- that's from memory so it may not be the exact wording). What is even wierder is this. If I choose a filename from the recent files list on the File menu, it always open ok! Further, drag and drop from explorer also works all the time!! Very strange, but true. I've verified the problem on two separate machines -- both are Windows NT 4.0/SP4 with Photoshop 5. I have also...

can I have a matrix of factors, please?
Dear R-help, Is it a violation of the S language to have a matrix of factors? What I would like to have is just a factor object that has dim attribute, and can be printed (and subsetted) like a matrix; i.e., all columns/rows have the identical levels. However, I can't get it to work: > x <- factor(sample(2, 10, replace=TRUE)) > dim(x)<- c(5,2) > x [1] 1 2 2 1 2 1 1 1 2 1

X11 forwarding issues with Linux
...t 6999: Address already in use error: Failed to allocate internet-domain X11 display socket. debug: Forking shell. And I honestly cannot tell at this point why bind() is failing. I also tried compiling --with-ipv4-default on both the client and the server and got the same thing. Which seems even wierder. Anyone know what is going wrong or have some suggestions for debugging? I only compiled IPv6 into the server kernel. Does the client need it as well? Different Index behaviors of Array and Matrix
Dear all, I found a difference between the indexing of an array and that of a matrix when there are NA's in the index array. The screen copy is as follows. > A <- array(NA, dim=6) > A [1] NA NA NA NA NA NA > idx <- c(1,NA,NA,4,5,6) > B <- c(10,20,30,40,50,60) > A[idx] <- B > A [1] 10 NA NA 40 50 60 > AA <- matrix(NA,6,1) > AA [,1] [1,] NA [2,]

Problems after changing security = domain to security = ads
Hello all I have a samba domain member authenticating to a w2k3 server, after installing SP1, there were problems, and a solution I found was to change to security = ads. This seemed to work fine, but today no-one can get their home drives, and some people are denied access to shares where the permissions on the files are rwx for the user. I did not change anything other than the security line

losing connection
Tom, or whomever reads this, when I say disconnect I mean close out IE6, sorry for so unclear on this point. My IP address never changes unless I unplug the modem. I have had the same IP address for ... well since I had to reset it to hook it up to my Linux box.which was 2 weeks ago. If I set DHCP on my eth1 interface that will contradict the static address I have assigned to it,

needs help, root inode gone after usb bus reset on sata disks
Hello everybody, I am new to this list, so welcome everybody. Last 2 week I had two harddisk crashes with my ext2 file system. This is what sort of happed with both of the disk: I pluged in my USB to SATA converter in my harddisk that has an ext2 filesystem. I mounted the partition, went to a directory that had a DVD image. I mounted the dvd image in the same directory and started watching the
