Just to note, BoostPro has already expressed a willing to run some BuildBot to
do Windows testing. I'm not sure it met with much response, though.

I don't much like the idea of doing a release with so many buildbots down...

ARGH... once again samba causes "permission" errors.
I've been doing unix sys. admin for nearly 20 years and yet EVERY single
time I have to setup samba I have configuration problems.
Before we start let's clear up some common misunderstandings: I have
googled for the answer. I have spent the last six hours doing so and trying
various "suggestions". Most of these suggestions point to solutions
involving chown or chmod. These are

Exorbitant cost to achieve redundancy??
I'm trying to justify a GlusterFS storage system for my technology
development group and I want to get some clarification on
something that I can't seem to figure out architecture wise...
My storage system will be rather large. Significant fraction of a
petabyte and will require scaling in size for at least one decade.
from what I understand GlusterFS achieves redundancy through

[LLVMdev] llvm.git mirror & release_31 branch
Hello Everyone
As some of you already noticed release_31 branch on llvm.git was
somehow created w/o history. I fixed this via manual grafting (kudos
to John Wiegley!), but please carefully watch the results:
1. refs in release_31 branch should be changed. This is expected and
this is the price we're paying for connected history (if you have
something on top you might want to do git pull --rebase)
2. refs in other branches should remain as they were
Please...

ssh-agent support of ssh2
Folks,
Any idea of when ssh2 support will be available within ssh-agent and
ssh-add?
Many thanks,

ssh-agent2?
...SSH protocols is pretty much nil.
and the RSA authention agent routines seem pretty involved and
complex which sort of discouraged me right off the bat from trying
to forge ahead and implement it for DSA.
Any news about other peoples attempts/progress to get ssh-agent2
implemented?
Thanks,

ARGH!! why does my samba server lose domain master elections??
...NT box came up, forced an election and won.
I thought an os level of 255 would beat *everything* out there so
why are NT machines still capable of becoming the domain master
browser??? The WinNT installations are just simple typical installations.
Thanks for any help you can offer,

smbprint(ing) to a HP 3100??
I work in a lab were the only "printer" we have is an HP 3100
(printer/fax/scanner) item. This printer is hung off a Windows98
box and I want to be able to print to it from my linux box using
smbprint.
I can connect to the share that represents this printer:
smbclient \\\\server\\printer "" -N
and I get the SMB> prompt which (I think) is pretty useless for
printers.

determining domain master and forcing elections?
Every now and then one of my lusers sets up a machine which attempts
to be a local master and/or a domain master for our workgroup. This
sucks since we want our samba machine to *always* be the WINS master
server. (we have os level set to 255 for this machine) but appearantly
it still loses elections that come up from time to time.
The only way I know when this happens is when people come to me

[LLVMdev] adding new data types to llvm
Hello .
I would like to add new custom data type to llvm C parser, I use LLVM/Clang version 3.1.
Adding new type instructions from llvm.org site are out of date (http://llvm.org/docs/ExtendingLLVM.html#type).
Could you please provide me with guidance?
Thanks in advance,
Edvard

ARGH... once again samba causes "permission" errors. SOLVED
Ok, I was able to fix both of my problems and they are both related
to SELinux problems
First: I am assuming that you are like me and that you have an excellent
background in systems administration (I teach it at a university for a
living.) So you've configured chmod permissions and chown user and
group ownerships on directories and files to correctly allow the desired
access. You have

necessary to bind TCP/IP to Microsoft network client?
...and as
a result all the clients around here are going to
have to bind TCP/IP to microsoft network client and
thus open up security problems.
Also since all of my machines that I'm trying this with
are on the same subnet is there any reason I should be
running any WINS servers?
Thanks,

Samba PDC/LDAP not mapping "logon drive"
Well it took forever (three days actually) to:
1) setup a working ldap server.
Unix users now authenticate against the LDAP server perfectly.
2) Setup samba to use LDAP authentication.
3) Get the WindowsXP machines to become members of the domain.
Everything seems to be working fine except for
1) roaming profiles, and
2) User's home directory (logon drive) doesn't get

WINS isn't working correctly and I think somebody is trying to exploit a security hole...
Pardon the long log file but I'm fairly new to WINS servers and probably
don't know what I'm doing.
We've have two subnets (lets call them xxx.xxx.xxx.??? and yyy.yyy.yyy.??)
I have one samba/linux server on both networks xxx.xxx.xxx.2 and yyy.yyy.yyy.2.
xxx.xxx.xxx.2 is set up to be a domain master and yyy.yyy.yyy.2 is setup to
be a local master with xxx.xxx.xxx.2 as its master.
