domain name display issue in linux pc
...could not reply immediately.
Right now, I am facing a differentissue. I have to set up DNS server using BIND on Centos 4.3. When Itype the hostname on Centos, it shows:
sipserver.vodcalocal.com
But the cli prompt has root at sipserver~ meaning only the sipserver part of the hostname is displayed. whyis this so? What is the actual hostname then? I see in the
/etc/sysconfig/network that thehostname is sipserver.vodcalocal.com
the /etc/hosts file has the followingcontent:
# Do not remove the following line, orvarious programs
# that require network functionalitywill fail.
127.0.0.1 localhost.loca...

model.frame and predvars
I was looking at how the model.frame method for lm works and comparing
it to my own for coxph.
The big difference is that I try to retain xlevels and predvars
information for a new model frame, and lm does not.
I use a call to model.frame in predict.coxph, which is why I went that
route, but never noted the difference till now (preparing for my course
in Nashville).

rsh problems in CentOS 5.2 (was "cvs command failure on 5.2")
Okay, I've narrowed the problem down quite a bit. As previously
reported, in CentOS 5.2 I get this:
$ cvs log Makefile
poll: protocol failure in circuit setup
cvs [log aborted]: end of file from server (consult above messages if any)
Turns out this is a problem with rsh:
$ rsh khan ls
