Collisions
We're using samba across a 10MBit ethernet and seem to get collisions on the hub when reading files, no matter how quiet the traffic. I can only think that the smbd is beginning its reply before the request is fully finished. Anyone know whether this is the case and whther I can tune anything to stop it happening?

I'm concerend about the height of the card, and whther it will work in a PCI-X slot. Thanks for any help!

ZAPtel channel dance
Zaptel installs an /etc/modprobe.d/zaptel and an /etc/{defaults,sysconfig}/zaptel that list the modules in a different order, so If you happen to have a TDM2400P and a TDM[124]xxP, all channels change their numbers if you do a /etc/initd/zaptel restart. This is slightly confusing. (I'd file a bug if there were a bug tracking system that allowed users to submit bugs). Yours, Florian

Mean calculated from R1.9.1 different from R2.0.1
Hello, I ran my simulations on the Unix verson of R1.9.1 and the Windows version of R2.0.1 on XP. I kept getting different values for the mean of the same column of the same matrix, and am perplexed. I would appreciate if anyone could help explain the difference? Here is a sample code: set.seed(7293) z1v <- rnorm(1000, mean=68, sd=13) z1v <- (z1v-mean(z1v))/sd(z1v) Using R1.9.1 on Unix,

prevent runaway PID taking down server (RAM/swap)
Is there a way I can prevent processes from taking up all the ram then swap until the box crashes/freezes? I'm using IEs4Linux and the wineserver seems to start taking up RAM until my box dies, it happens slowly. I am able to kill the sucker now, but I'd like to not have to worry about that. sar -r 01:00:01 PM kbmemfree kbmemused %memused kbbuffers kbcached kbswpfree kbswpused
