BDC and password change program
Hello, Just wondering what I should be using for the password change program on a BDC. Should it be: passwd program = /usr/bin/smbpasswd -r <PDC address> %u I'm having a problem with passwords not staying in sync between the PDC and BDC with pass backend ldap. The systems are all Fedora Core 4, Samba 3.0.14a, openldap 2.2.23 Kent N

KVM vs ESXi
...a position to entertain upgrading. Right now forking over $1000-$1500 on a $2000 system for a pair of higher end LSI/3ware/Acreca controller just isn't in the budget. ;-) My question to everyone are these: -How well does KVM support Windows Guests? I'm already running a Server 2008r2 and WHS 2011 (based on 08r2) machines at home which I want to consolidate into this box. -Does KVM have a concept of virtual switches and and are they tied to physical NICs? ESXi allows me to create a vSwitch that isn't tied to a physical NIC so I can create a DMZ that exists solely within the host sy...

Windows Home Server as Xen Guest
hi there, I''ve been googling for a while but cant find anything of interest... Has anyone tried running Windows Home Server as a Xen guest? I would like to use WHS on my Home server as it greatly simplifies the management of storage, however i''d like the server to be able to other things aswell, hence wanting to use Xen... Any ideas? Cheers Gavin -- View this message in context: http://www.nabble.com/Windows-Home-Server-as-Xen-Guest-tp20409360p204...

Running IIS under WINE
Hi All -- Has anyone attempted to run IIS under WINE? I realized that one of the biggest things holding me back from moving to Linux is working on IIS-based ASP applications. I would never expect to use such a setup in production, only for development. I am aware that there are various ways to get ASP to run on Linux, but I'm not interested in that. How about Personal Web Server? How

FIPS 140-2 compliance
I''ve just posted a feature request <http://projects.puppetlabs.com/issues/8120> relating to FIPS 140-2 compliance. I''m pointing to it here on the mailing list because I listed there five places where Puppet (nay, Ruby!) crashed while I was testing a deployment using FIPS mode on all hosts. It crashed because it tried to use MD5, and OpenSSL in FIPS mode doesn''t let

Upgrade Novell 4.11 to Samba 3.0.7 wisdom needed
Has anybody done such a thing as this? I'm looking to make this transition as smooth as possible. I have the new fileserver up and running, and I'm using rsync to keep the Novell data current on the Samba server. Any words of advice on transferring the users and groups and permissions over to the new server in the least painful way possible? I have some idea that Novell uses LDAP

Hello, I''m running 6.26-2-xen-amd64 with xen-hypervisor-3.2-1-amd64. Now I try to pass through a controller card to WHS, at the moment without success because the card isn''t present in DomU. At the first moment I guess it''s a windows problem ;) so I''d tried to boot a Knoppix .iso but same problem there, the passed through device isn''t present in DomU. Here is my system configurat...

depends on "autoconf: regenerate configure scripts with 4.4 version" This series removes some of the really old deadwood from the tools build and makes some other things which are on their way out configurable at build time with a default depending on how far down the slope I judge them to be. * nuke in tree copy of libaio * nuke obsolete tools: xsview, miniterm, lomount & sv *
