...file md4sum, it becomes repeatable, but unpredictable. You can't manipulate individual blocks without it affecting every other blocksum, but the signature for the same file is always the same. Nice :-) This would fit in nicely with adding a whole-file checksum to the signature... generate the wholefile md4sum, and use that as the starting "seed" for the individual blocksums. The wholefile sum becomes the seed. This doesn't allow for "permutating" the seed if it happens to result in blocksum clashes. Hi: I've been using rsync to create backups for a few years. A few months ago I started experiencing sector errors. I ended up replacing the drive and copying the drive data. It turns out that due to the default behavior of rsync "quick check", some of the files were modified without altering the modification time or size, so these files are still clean in the backup. rsync using huge traffic
Hey, I'm using rsync to backup my server but there is a problem because rsync is using very huge amounts traffic. But first to the setup.
