XML Builder File Extention
...requires the .xml file extention. Despite being vaild xml it needs that extention. I am lost at how to solve this problem. I am still working in a development environment, and running the newest versions of anything. I would appreciate any help and feel free to contact me directly. Vorbis source development status
...#39;ll assume at this point everyone knows what Vorbis is; stop me if I'm wrong ;-) More of the code is complete than the web pages might suggest. That said, libvorbis still needs at least a little work everywhere and alot of work in several places. I'll talk about libvorbis mostly; Mike Whitson has been handling the example encoder/player and I'll let him pipe up about that in his own time. Because documentation is more scarce than code right now, I'll have to start by summarizing how Vorbis codes and at each step point out the relevant piece of code. The CVS repository is now a...

Vorbis status
...is a ping to see what folks are up to and planning to work on in the near future. I'm mostly just curious.... Personal goals in the next week: Handle any incoming bugs on the vorbisfile API/library Hone the LPC approximation routines a bit more. Get the command line player functional (Mike Whitson is also planning to put some time in here). Verify that I understand the LSP probability distributions by making lots of 12-32 dimensional graphs (well, OK, 3 dimesions at a time :-) Code the codebook abstraction learning interface, spec the encode/decode interface. Most of the above doesn't...

AW: What's in a name
...ish took on a life of its own far beyond the proportions of the original digital music studio project of which it was to be part. A few months after the first Squish webpage, I received a polite but firm letter informing me that Squish is a registered trademark (for a mail transport system). Mike Whitson, a contributor to the cause in the early days, suggested the name 'OggSquish' as a replacement. An 'Ogg' is a tactical maneuver from the network game 'Netrek' that has entered common usage in a wider sense. From the definition: 3. To do anything forcefully, possibly withou...

Hello and questions
Hi. So, I checked out libvorbis and it seemed pretty OK, but the cmdline subdir didn't compile. I made changes to Makefile.in and added a function or two (does "fill_buffer" live anywhere? I couldn't find it) and eventually got a build that didn't do much. Anyways, I guess I want real CVS access so I can check the changes in, and I'd like to slap the cmdline thing

State of Vorbis
...d to write the encode/ decode/packing code that makes use of the codebook. This future code is already specced. Tony: I haven't worked on the xmms code you sent. I'll actually start on that now before continuing on the VQ code as most of the VQ questions are settled (if not coded). Mike Whitson has jumped back into the command line player. The new command line player (I expect) will be built around vorbisfile.a. Our ISP has finally fixed the routing error that had xiph.org partitioned from BBNplanet the second half of the week. Hopefully everyone got all the mail that backed up in that...
