What I'm trying to do: I have a SOHO... very SO in fact. I would like to build a simple system with two analog lines. I do recording and can't always have a cell phone turned on when I'm in the stu...

OpenSSH sshd: per-user restrictions and scp-only
...I DO NOT want them to be able to start up any shell or anything else! 2. i want to be able to restrict them to be able to do port forwarding ONLY to the the ip address and port number I specifiy. without these kinds of controls, ssh becomes kind of a risky proposition as opposed to, say, sslftp, whick only allows access to files. Hopefully, others have noticed these same problems and have some solutions. Thanks for your time!!

Asterisk Users Conference Friday: New Asterisk Book and a visit from JerJer of Nufone
Oops, I had some problems and was offline unable to remind you about the conference yesterday. LISTEN to recent recordings: http://x2z.eu/astusers.htm (Flash player, will autostart) THIS WEEK: Stephan Winterberg and Stephen Boche tell us more about the new book, whick looks like a great effort. A surprise visit from Jeremy, one of the pioneers of our community who started Nufone when someone on IRC said "I need a new phone". SIP call instructions: http://x2z.eu/ Download mp3 or listen to any conference recording here: http://www.talkshoe.com/talksh...

Add default quirk to pm-utils (CentOS 5.4)
I've installed CentOS 5.4 on my new Lenovo Ideapad S12 (Atom-based 12" notebook) and need to add a quirk to pm-suspend in order for the laptop to actually go to sleep. There's a couple of quirks that work just fine so I really don't have a preference. I found several instructions but most of them have failed me because CentOS's pm-utils is too ancient. Newer versions come

[OT] Before thinking on my startup... what elements would I need?
...e formal methods and bureocracy stuff. I thought on working in this application and once I had something that I could show (and impress) I would go and ask someone if he/she would like to join me. What I''m asking here is directions/books I could use to prepare myself for this endeavour - whick skils should I focus besides my technical skills? - You guys that have successfully done your own much loved thing, how did you start? How did you manage it? Would you mind sharing your experiences? I want to do it right, and that''s why I''m asking for help. I also think starting...

dynamic setting of username and password in database.yml
Hello I''ve now read a lot about application-level authentication in Rails, but I need to do database-level authentication. The reason is that my database needs to have the current_user (database current_user, not current_user defined in an ActiveRecord Model) set to execute triggers for automatically updating audit tables. So it is not enough to have a session check against a User
