[PATCH][RESEND] use autoconf MKDIR_P to reduce usage of legacy mkinstalldirs script
Basically all platforms have a proper "mkdir -p". Autoconf has install-sh as
fallback when using AC_PROG_MKDIR_P, which is also hardened against races if
it is recent enough. Update that script and use MKDIR_P whereever possible.
Installs fine in my tests and avoids the "mkdir: cannot create directory '?':
File exists" messages along the way.
Greetings,
Eike

One Extension - Two Calls?
...hough if you try to register the same extension more than once then the most recent registration is the only one that works (this determined by calling that extension and seeing which 'line' rings).
This would also be handy for those working from home, this way their extension follows them whereever they are.
Any thoughts on this? From what I have read so far it appears as though asterisk cannot do this and I wondered if anyone else had done something similar.
Thank You!

You, being (by the sound of it) a Red-Hat user, will very well know
that you cannot create an AD DC with Red-Hat packages yet, so, unless
you configure it differently, Samba puts everything into

smbclient-winpopup-message
Hi!
I updated my Samba from 2.0.7 to 2.2.2.
Now the command "smbclient -M <username>" doesn't work anymore.
Even <username>#3 doesn't work (where nmblookup finds the correct IP).
I know that you have to give a hostname, but I will send messages to users
whereever they're logged on.
Any hints?
Thanx!

Header page splitting
...with new sequence numbers and new CRCs; otherwise the
remaining file can just be copied.
All that works fine with my test files, but I want it to be reliable
working with all files with comment headers larger than 8 kbytes. Now,
my question is: Can I just split up the comment and the setup header,
whereever I want, or do I have to split them at a certain point?
Thanks,
Matthias

help with "attach"
Hello,
I've been migrating my computing to R and have not had any major
problems running old Splus programs in R. However, the one thing
I am missing is the ability to attach directories full of general
utility functions from whereever I happen to fire up an R session.
As a consequence, I find myself making many duplicate copies of
these little general purpose functions by cutting and pasting
Splus function code. In any case, this capability would seem to be
of fundamental importance and so I would guess that it can be done.

It's your network, you can choose whereever you want to run tinc. As
long as you make sure everything is routed correctly. If the firewall
has the ethertap module, tinc can use that as well.

upscli_splitname() for upsc_list (was: Re: Default NUT PORT)
...could modify it to simply return NULL in *upsname if there is no '@'
sign. The alternative would be to have a flag (also an API change) or
create upscli_splithostname().
Since libupsclient isn't exactly ubiquitous, I would prefer changing
the semantics of upscli_splitname() and fixing whereever it is called
to check for a null upsname. Opinions or objections?

Best practice OU and policy structure.
Hi,
I'm in an organization where we're thinking of deploying a department and role based OU structure.
So depending on people's responsibilities one has limitations on their PC, or Account.
However I notice that applications who use Ldap to verify credentials against Samba,
have problems when people get moved around as logically their Ldap referral "cn= ou = ou- .. "

quota calculating
...time a message is delivered,
qmail seems to walk through the user's entire maildir in order to
calculate quota usage. Delivering messages simultaneously to just a few
users who are allowed large maildirs (1-2GB) will bring our servers to
their knees. Which brings me to dovecot. I use dovecot whereever I can,
but haven't yet needed to set up quotas. I would like to migrate my
servers at work to use dovecot, but have a few questions regarding
quotas. Could someone explain how dovecot calculates quota usage on mail
delivery? Also, is there anyone here on the list that uses quoatas on

a fault in the "hist" - function (PR#6931)

During my studies, I found a fault in the hist()-function:
If you have a vector x with values around zero and also bigger than 10,000,000 ,
there will be a shift of -max(x)/10,000,000 in the hist-datas.
See my example:
x<-runif(10000)
hist(x,breaks=c(seq(-3,3,0.1)),prob=TRUE)

deleted and created the user a thousand times, and opened the config up as
wide as possible. I'm obviously doing something stupid but

LVM encryption and new volume group
Hi Chris,
thanks for your answer.
It is the first time I decided to encrypt my lvm. I choosed to encrypt the volume group, not every logical volume itself, because in case of doing lvm snapshots in that group they will be encrypted too?
And how do I create a new encrypted volume group?
Regards
Tim
