Getting Win98/95 machines to connect
...nnect. They
go through the same process to get to the Linux box and then they double
click on it. Then they are prompted for only the password. Of course
there's no password or anything, but they get a connection refused error.
I've been reading the docs but honestly they are a bit over whelming to try
and find exactly what I'm looking for. Please let me know if there is
anything about the configuration that I need to share with you all so I can
get this fixed asap!
Thanks!

is SFU home directories an easy development?
...nd me if you have tried using the same configuration you
used on the member server on the AD DC, and seen if it worked. Allowing
this was the intention, but as I say, not the current goal (setting
limited, sometimes very limited, goals has been the best way to avoid
this whole endeavour being over-whelming).

asterisk +heartbeat
> having two NICs on the same subnet
I'm trying to wrap my brain around that in the larger network picture. Two
NICs in the same subnet (presumably on the same computer) would have access
to the same other devices. This could potentially increase bandwidth
(maybe?) and offer redundancy (if NICS, wiring or switches were the biggest
source of failure). I'm not sure how the OS would

so, just what do you think "but not an option at this time" means? ;-)

*How good is Wine?
Hello World,
I am a newcomer to this technology. I am very pleased to have found it and VERY interested in using it, as a better-cost alternative for schools where I teach open source & Windows technology. I travel the world, and help set up schools in underprivileged countries where it is very expensive to acquire the Windows desktop. Wine seems like a VERY good solution, much better than

dovecot genesis v2.0.X
V2 of dovecot has had the following releases (to recap)
2.0.0 2010-08-16
2.0.1 2010-08-24
2.0.2 2010-09-08
2.0.3 2010-09-17
2.0.4 2010-09-26
2.0.5 2010-10-01
I am on FreeBSD, and the port committers want to wait till
dovecot V2 "stabilizes" prior to adding it to the FreeBSD
ports base.
So, my question is, respectfully, is dovecot V2.0.5 stable enough
for prime-time on a busy ISP

Quiet 24 port POE gig switch
A little off topic but....
I need to put a 24 port Gig PoE switch into a small office - no computer
room / rack etc. All CAT5 terminates near the owners desk (smart huh?).
I want to put a PoE switch in place, with 24 ports and Gig speed. Everyone
I've researched so far is LOUD...
Anyone know of a quiet one?
Thanks

[Zaptel] Why no driver for PCI voice modems?
Hello
Considering how cheap PCI modems are compared to even the cheapest
PCI hardware from Digium, OpenVox, Sangoma, etc.... I was wondering
why Zaptel can't be used with those to connect an Asterisk server to
a POTS line for low-level use? It just seems overkill for SOHO users
who only get a few calls a day.
Is it because those modems are usually Windows-specific, and it would
be too

Debugging
First, I'm new to the list server format, so I'm trying to figure out the mechanics.
I am installing an asterisk server for my SOHO. I'm working my way through Van Meggelen's book (just finished ch 4) and trying to get something up and working.
Hardware is 1.8 GHz Pentium with 1 GB RAM
OS is Fedora 9
I'm using Asterisk 1.6
I have a Linksys 941 SIP phone
I will also be using

ISDN - BRI
Subsequent to some previous E-Mails, I've been trying to dig into the ISDN - BRI situation a bit more. I have determined that I have a HFC card with Winbond chip, but I'm not sure what combination of drivers is best or usable.
zaphfc is out because it only supports the cologne chip.
misdn is a possibility. I haven't determined if it supports the card natively, or needs a card

ISDN
Hi,
I'm in the process of setting up Asterisk in a SOHO environment using ISDN for trunking. More specifically a BRI 2B+D circuit where one SPID is used for the business and the other is used for personal. The circuit already exists, but is presently being interfaced to POTS phones via a TA.
This configuration is not very common in the US, but we are fortunate that our LEC offers it price
