...t you could do this. . . the best approach would probably be to use *grep* instead of *which*, but let me show you both ways. On page 30, replace whales.v <- which(moby.word.v == *whale*) with whale_words <- c(*whale", *whales", *whale's", *whaler", *whalers", *whaling") whales.v <- which(moby.word.v %in% whale_words) the alternative (better) way to do this, with grep, looks like this whales.v <- grep(*^whal.*", moby.word.v) grep uses the regular expression ^whal.* to find all words starting (^) with *whal* followed by any number of other cha...

Dovecot 2.2.13 error message
Maybe I misunderstand. Each user is only able to access their mailbox from a single connection at a time. Other users can access the NFS Spool from other connections, I think that is what I am calling Concurrent connections. Is that the same definition you have? repeatedly crashing smbd when printing: broken pipe
for months, we keep fighting issues with smbd (now at released 2.2.6), config is with spoolss, domain logon, and the client in question is an NT4 machine. server is a i386/linux 2.2.19 For a very long time, we thought it was related to oplocks, but now after having them disabled, it still is there. Level 3 Log is as follows: [2002/10/22 17:08:18, 3] smbd/ipc.c:reply_trans(480) trans

I have two servers pointing to an NFS mounted mail spool with dovecot.? Since I recently switched from using Dovecot v1.X, I have been experiencing high CPU use with the two Dovecot servers. I am not certain why they are not well behaved.? Here is the configuration information. This configuration is currently running at a load average of 17. /usr/sbin/dovecot -n # 2.1.15:

Relationship Question (STI)
My girlfriend and I have been dating for two years, and she just told me she has an STI... Actually, I currently have three different models, like: Dog, Whale, Monkey They all have some similar attributes, but, they are unique enough to break into their own models. I could use STI, but I think the table would just have too many columns. Now, I wanted to let the Dog''s, Whale''s

My story installing Samba-LDAP PDC (it has a happy ending)
OK. I am starting to believe that Samba 3.0.x is not stable. At least, the documentation for Samba as PDC with OpenLDAP backend (which is what I have been trying to do for four days) is crap. All the documentation for 3.0.x is mixed with 2.2.x. Most documents start as instructions for 3.0.x but put a lot of information that doesn't apply to 3.0.x, but 2.2.x. People in the mailing list

Authentication Error Message formats
I have been using UW's IMAP server and I am converting to Dovecot for Maildir support. When a user fails authentication, or a user does not exist, it appears that the same message is used for these events. Is there a way to indicate that the user does not exist (Invalid user), and authentication Failure (Failed Password)? Clearly these two failures indicate a different error in the system.

Can I translate the userid to match the UW-POP3 server?
OK, I have been running the UW-POP3 server which currently translates all login ids as lowercase (i.e. Anthony becomes anthony). Now the Dovecot server is very flexible and currently I have not found how to translate the upper case characters to lowercase. What configuration setting will translate the userids to lowercase? -- Albert E. Whale, CHS CISA CISSP Sr. Security, Network, Risk

mbox to Maildir conversion
I've been running a mbox solution using UW's IMAP server. I've run it for years. Now do to heavy message volumes, I've decided to to take the plunge to convert to the Maildir format. I am currently testing a single user, and have successfully converted the mail messages from mbox to Maildir format, and now I am setting up the procmail tool to place the messages into the correct
