Problems installing Watchguard Firebox System software in wine (installshield)
Hello, I am trying to use WINE (20050725-r1 on Gentoo Linux) to install/run Watchguard's Firebox Management Software (WFS). The WFS installer uses an installshield installer of course.. I've been looking thru the FAQ, wiki, etc and have found info about DCOM98 needing to be installed. I've tried a bunch of things so far, and here's where I stand: First, I tried getting DCOM98 and installing it using...

WaitForSilence doesn't work unless Background is called?
I'be been having problems with the WaitForSilence application in my dialplan. The behavior I've noticed, and hope to demonstrated with the fallowing examples, is that WaitForSilence (WFS for short) does not work until Background is called. Note that the lenghts of the sounds are approximately 5 seconds for bring, and 10 for presses. [Testing] exten => s,1,Answer() exten => s,n,Wait(10) exten => s,n,WaitForSilence(5000) exten => s,n,Background(arstandard/bring) exten =...

Zfs and b114 version
http://dlc.sun.com/osol/on/downloads/b114/ This URL makes me think that if I just sit down and figure out how to compile OpenSolaris, I can try b114 now^h^h^h eventually ? I am really eager to try out the new quota support.. has someone already tried compiling it perhaps? How complicated is compiling osol compared to, say, NetBSD/FreeBSD, Linux etc ? (IRIX and its quickstarting??) --

This is basically the same thing as the "channel map" > described on the wiki, but with the (physical, logical) channel pair > swapped. OggPCM2: channel map
...pe says it's a map for 5.1, there will only be 6 slots in the table no matter how many channels are actually stored. So you would have to define a map type with 1000 separate logical channels before the situation you worry about could come about. If we forget fancy research stuff like high WFS (upto 192 channels, the last I heard; OTOH this means 255 channels might not be enough for everything) the broadest types I've heard of are Tomlinson Holman's 10.2 (12 channels) and third order periphonic ambisonic (16 channels), so I don't think this will present an issue any time...

Top 10 R Features
It seems to be the time of the year for top 10 lists both looking backwards (e.g. films: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/3660638/ ) and forwards (e.g. trends: http://www.wfs.org/forecasts.htm ) In this light I think we need a list of the top 10 features that users think R needs. Some of these are concrete while others are vague. By R, I am referring to the entire R system including packages, not just the core. Anyone have other ideas on this? By the way, I think...

ZFS Performance Issue
This may not be a ZFS issue, so please bear with me! I have 4 internal drives that I have striped/mirrored with ZFS and have an application server which is reading/writing to hundreds of thousands of files on it, thousands of files @ a time. If 1 client uses the app server, the transaction (reading/writing to ~80 files) takes about 200 ms. If I have about 80 clients attempting it @ once, it can

IP Tables on a bridge
Not normally a question for this group, but you guys are very bridge/router/firewall savvy, so I thought I''d toss it here. I have a bridge. On one side of the bridge is that fancy thing called the Internet. On the other side is my LAN. The bridge is the obvious demarcation line and a good place to put a firewall. Now, I have all my iptables stuff planned out, EXCEPT for nat. The
