Asterisk + iaxmodem + hylafax makes sometimes wedged for hylafax
...then are forwarded throught 5 IAXModems managed with Hylafax.
Hylafax users can also send faxes to these modems and Asterisk send them throught the SIP trunk.
We also have a dedicated modem used only for sending faxes coming from an Hylafax dedicated user.
Sometimes Hylafax reports that a modem is wedged and this modem remain wedged until we restart IAXModem daemon. When all modems becames wedged the server can't send and receive any fax.
We have enabled iax2debug, but no errors appears anyway.
Here's an example of the faxstat hylafax command, modem4 is reported as wedged:
$faxstat -as

named 'wedging' on CentOS 4.7
For some unfathomable reason, named 'wedges' -- becomes unresponsive and
needs to be killed (with -9!) and restarted.
I am using an intermittent (it is not a dedicated phone line -- I also
use it for voice calls), dialup connection to the internet and I am
using forwarding (from /etc/named.conf):

no more wedged mongrels with fastthread
With Mongrel 0.3.18, I have not seen a single one of the hangs that I
have been grousing about for the past N weeks.
Thanks MenTaLguY and Zed!
Q: Mongrel loads fastthread, Mongrel loads Rails, Rails loads OCI8,
OCI8 requires ''thread''. That means OCI8 is using fastthread too,
right?

Pie Chart Labels
I am having trouble finding out how to adjust the position of labels on
pie charts. For the small wedges, many of the labels overlap making it
impossible to read. Is there any way to offset the labels so that they
don't overlap?

FreeBSD 4.9 RC1 (more bad news)
A few hours ago I downloaded .../i386/ISO-IMAGES/4.9-RC1-i386-disc1.iso
and made kern/mfsroot floppies from it. If I enable my ICH5R SATA
controller in "native" mode, the 4.9-RC1 GENERIC kernel hangs solidly
(only the system reset button can unwedge it) during device configuration.
The last line of bootstrap monologue written by the kernel is:

avoiding DoS
Hi,
I was just looking for some advice on avoiding getting DoS'd from brute
force log in attempts. We came in this morning to find that one of our
Solaris 9 dovecot severs had wedged overnight due to a brute force
connection attempt to pop3 from Brasil. In the span of about 15 seconds
we received 342 connection auth attempts from the same IP:
Sep 3 00:10:51 xxxxx dovecot: [ID 583609 mail.info] auth(default): new
auth connection: pid=16862

Lost setting up IAXmodem after drive crash
...nothing happens that I can tell. I see some files in spool/hylafax:
ls docq/ -lstr
total 24

8 -rw-r----- 1 uucp 60002 6636 Nov 27 15:04 doc1.ps
12 -rw-r----- 1 uucp 60002 11264 Nov 27 15:04 cover1
Then I found in tmp:
cat tmp/ttyIAX0_last_wedged_email
1196204456
This is a temp file written and read by bin/wedged to rate-limit
the emails it sends about the wedged status of device /dev/ttyIAX0.
The first line contains a timestamp for when the last email was sent.
This file is never deleted automatically, there's no need to do it

proto question
Dear R Users,
I have a couple of proto objects like:

star.rating <- wedge$proto(
star = c(4, 5, 8, 10),
gain = c(0, .3, .5, .7),
cost = c(0, 2100, 4000, 7500),
star.rating <- function(., year) 6.0,
setup = function(.){

[OT] What file can I use to change Ubuntu 9.10 display characteristics?
This question is vaguely related to R in that I have managed to wedge
the netbook computer that I use for demonstrations of R and I would
like to know how to un-wedge it so I can continue to give lectures
about R.
I have an ASUS eee PC running the netbook-remix version of Ubuntu
9.10. The X server in 9.10 is a little different from earlier
versions in that it does not require an explicit

Irregular 3d objects with rgl
Hello,
While exploring if rgl is along the lines of what I need, I checked out
demo("rgl") and didn't find quite what I'm looking for, and am therefore
seeking additional help/suggestions.
The application is geared towards displaying a 3D rendering of a contaminant
plume in the subsurface with the following highlights: Once the plume was
rendered as a 3D object, a

MySQL patch + Debian
Hi folks.
Sorry to post here about a patch that hasn't been officially integrated
into Dovecot, however I am trying to get it going and seem to have hit
a dead end.
I downloaded the Debianised source for Dovecot (0.99.10-9) from sarge:

then applied the latest MySQL patch that I could find on the list:

revisit to legacy PBX and CID over PRI
My legacy PBX accepts CID number, but not name.
My old PRI vendor never sent the name, so there was never an issue.
I have wedged asterisk between the Legacy PBX and PSTN. PSTN - PRI - asterisk - PRI - Legacy.
Any calls from asterisk (sip and iax extensions) which have callerID set, will not connect.
The legacy PBX hangs up, but asterisk thinks that it is still ringing.
I have added "hidecallerid=yes" to zapat...

RFC: alive.llvm.org?
Hi folks,
I've been running a Compiler Explorer instance with Alive2 on a machine
in my office, but availability has been poor due to random factors and
of course recently it hasn't been easy or convenient to go in and fix
things when the machine gets wedged.
Nuno and I would like to ask the LLVM community if it's OK to point
alive.llvm.org at a cloud machine that I've setup with Alive2 + Compiler
Explorer, that should have considerably better availability.
Other than the DNS entry, there will be no usage of LLVM community
resources.

Some initial experiences.
...adm-created
entries don''t stand much chance of referring to the BE BFU''d with xen
bits. This leaves you hand-editing the menu.lst entries for the
appropriate BE.
When first setting things up, I attempted to put the proto image onto a
zvol. Part way through this, the machine wedged (and I discovered I had
no working console to it, so I have no more information on that...).
Second time through (after fixing the above, and re-bfu''ing). I
attempted the same, and it worked. I created a file-backed domU, booted
it, and up it came. Nice.
I had to boot the 64bit do...
