rpm build difference?
...he tetex suite (tetex-xdvi tetex-dvips
tetex tetex-latex tetex-afm tetex-fonts), "rpm -V tetex" reports some
package inconsistencies:
rpm -V tetex
........C /usr/bin/amstex
........C /usr/bin/bamstex
........C /usr/bin/bplain
........C /usr/bin/lambda
........C /usr/share/texmf/web2c/amstex.fmt
........C /usr/share/texmf/web2c/bamstex.fmt
........C /usr/share/texmf/web2c/bplain.fmt
........C /usr/share/texmf/web2c/cont-en.efmt
etc..
After investigating, it appears that these files belong to tetex and
rpm -V inconsistencies appear only after I also install tetex-latex....

\middle in Rd.sty conflicts with newer LaTeX?
Rd.sty defines
\newlength{\middle}
which seems to be in conflict with the my latex installation.
Here is a minimal example:
\documentclass{article}
\newlength{\middle}
\begin{document}
\end{document}
It runs fine on a Linux box:

error in building R-1.9.0 sources under Win32
...fpTeX did not come with this file). 'make
distribution' also fails with the same error message. Any thoughts on

This typically indicates Rd problems.
I can manually gererate the dvi from setRNG-manual.tex, so I don't think
my latex is defective as I speculated last week. The file texput.log
indicates

Sweave and font problems
...n issue with my local LaTeX
installation (but that doesn't show up without using Sweave), or some
odd interaction? Certainly, Sweave generates the correct .tex file, but
bizarrely, the package directive is ignored.
Has anyone had similar problems, or am I alone...?
pdfeTeX 3.141592-1.21a-2.2 (Web2C 7.5.4)
Installed via darwinports (macports as it is now).

Adding R's texmf to tetex's texmf
Hello!
I use Sweave for a report and up to now I always copied Sweave.sty to
a folder where I have the report. But this can be done better (or did
I miss anything) with
* extension of TEXMF variable in texmf/web2c/texmf.cnf or
* linking /usr/lib/R/share/texmf to somewhere in /usr/share/texmf
I tried with the following and I didn't need to put Sweave.sty in
folder with a report:
cd /usr/share/texmf/tex/latex
mkdir R
cd R
ln -s /usr/lib/R/share/texmf/Sweave.sty

Build problems on Windows with fpTeX and MiKTeX
