Possible bug in samba-2.2.8a-1...
Hi,
I found what seems to be a bug in smbd (and smbclient?) from samba-2.2.8a-1.
Scenario is the following:
All users have accounts in linux box "mate", with homes mounted via NFS
from linux box "fserver". mate and fserver run samba-2.2.8a-1, mate ONLY
validates passwords and has no shares; fserver in turn, ONLY shares [homes]
and [netlogon], but has no users, so samba uses

PATCH: x86-64 support and SSE intrinscis code
It's not possible to use ia32/*.nasm code in 64-bit compiles.
There's still no 64-bit asm code in FLAC. I'm not familiar with asm too,
so I wrote SSE-accelerated code using intrinsics.
This code uses two new preprocessor macros:
FLAC__CPU_X86_64 (analogous to FLAC__CPU_IA32)
and FLAC__HAS_X86INTRIN (analogous to FLAC__HAS_NASM)
Patch for cpu.c/cpu.h adds CPU features (sse3, ssse3)

I know you're a skilled programmer, but... maybe you forgot to add -msse...

Maybe that's because the M$ "solutions" are crap, and much better
alternatives already exist.

Thanks for your work on this.
I've applied these patches, updated the configure script to detect
the required features and then tweaked things slightly.
The biggest of these tweaks weas to disable the intrinsics version
fero FLAC__CPU_IA32 because I couldn't get this to compile on
i386-linux (and we have the nasm versions). Still open to re-enabling
this if someone can get it to work.
Cheers,
Erik

Trusts
Hi,
Does Samba offer any type of trust relationships for NT machines?
Will this be in the new version of Samba 1.9.18p10?
It's funny to see Linux machines able to penetrate any domain. How is
Linux at replicating the passwd file with NIS? This would solve the
updating of users across multiple machines. Or would it be better to
refresh all the smbpasswd databases on each machine,

why does Samba take over as pdc is n
Hi,
We had sort of the same problem. :) The NT network kept losing it's
Master
Browser.
I had the Samba 2.0.3 machine running with all the settings to NO..
even at
that, I guess the Samba machine was still winning the vote even
though
everything was disabled. Then I tried os level = 0 - this seems
to have
worked. Well the network browselist isn't being upset every 12
minutes

Index indexed words
Hello,
We would like to create Google or Firefox like "search hints".
If someone types "abc", the search system should name
some possible hints.
I think, Firefox does it by indexing 3-characters of the domain
name. If you enter parts, you get some hints.
Thank you very much

Permissions
Hi Group,
I set up samba3.0 to work as ADS-Member-Server.
I created a share called /test and chown group to gg_test to it.
Access to share works without any problems. I also can add files and
directories to this share.
When I now make ln -l, the files I added got the group-permissions "Domain
Users" and not gg_test, as I expected.
Do someone know a solution?
Thanks in advance.

Best Printer Setup
Hi,
I've been toying with the idea of using the Linux machine as a print
server. I'm using RedHat 5.2 and Samba 2.0.3. I already have one remote
printer share working... but I can't figure out where the PrintTool in
RedHat is storing the remote printers IP address. Anyone know where? :)
(not important just bugging me - I hate when OS's hide stuff)
I have the Samba book

The message you are hearing is coming from your asterisk server, and it
is
because there was either no response to your call attempt or your call
attempt weas refused by your VoIP provider. In the "no response"
scenario
it may be because you are strapped for bandwidth, but if you were THAT
strapped you would have many additional problems, and the calls that
were
going through would have serious audio problems.
So I would focus on the idea...

I forgot. Why do we hate* Java?
Hi,
I''ve started reading some Java books. Gasp! What makes website
development with Java so bad? I haven''t looked at Struts but I''m
reading about Hibernate. Compared to ActiveRecord, Hibernate seems
like some extra typing to explicitly define the model fields, getters
and setters. I know that these are things that you can do in
ActiveRecord when things get complicated

Rebuild of kernel 2.6.9-67.0.20.EL failure
Hello list.
I'm trying to rebuild the 2.6.9.67.0.20.EL kernel, but it fails even without
modifications.
How did I try it?
Created a (non-root) build environment (not a mock )
Installed the kernel.scr.rpm and did a
rpmbuild -ba --target=`uname -m` kernel-2.6.spec 2> prep-err.log | tee
prep-out.log
The build failed at the end:
