Antw: Re: STATUS_SHARE_VIOLATION when Read while Write on GPFS + CTDB
Hello Volker, I was able to get those level 10 logs - spitted by machine. Unfortunately I don't know how attachments behave - Groupwise seems not to be happy with those - so I try the redundant way: Here are the logfiles for this event (only one machine, one try): https://www.bitmammut.de/WDR/log.klnmszap32 In this file there are about 3 occurrences of the "NT_STATUS_SHARING_VIOLATION". The first is in line 2661. Also I'll try to set the share-modes to "no" and look how it behaves. Thanks that you want to analyze this. I hope that we would find a solution. R...

STATUS_SHARE_VIOLATION when Read while Write on GPFS + CTDB
Hi, in the following scenario I've got the Problem of "STATUS_SHARE_VIOLATION". Client A (with User 1) copies a file to share X. (with: DENY_NONE 0x120196 WRONLY NONE) Client B (with User 1) reads this file from share X (with: DENY_NONE 0x120089 RDONLY NONE) Now Client C (with User 1) wants also to read this file from share X and gets the STATUS_SHARE_VIOLATION.

Letter case not preserved
All files transferred to my Samba server end up with lower case on the Unix box. Case is not preserved from NT to Unix. For example, if I copy C:\Temp\MyFile to a directory on the Samba server, it ends up there as myfile. What am I missing? I browsed the FAQ's in the web pages, without success... Connecting to Samba through Windows 95
Hi all: I have setup Samba on our Solaris server with user based security (though the usernames on the Solaris box differ from our NT/Win95 usernames). Everything seems to work well when I connect from an NT client (4.0) since it asks for a "connect as" string (username), but on 95, I cannot seem to specify a username (and therefore cannot gain access to the server). Is there anyway

username map problem
Hi, I am running version 1.9.18p8 on Solaris 2.6 connecting to NT 4.0 sp3. When I am logged in as administrator I can't connect to any samba share. My username map contains just "root = Administrator" and my smb.conf file has the following entries: password level = 2 security = server encrypt passwords = yes password server = ntsrv002 ntsrv003 username map =

FEATURE REQ: safe % expansion via new syntax
Proposal: There should be a way to specify that some substitutions should be made in a way that is safe as far as Bourne Shell command lines are concerned (e.g., if %f expands to a string with special characters in it, it should be expanded to a sutiably quoted string in 'print command' parameters). Either all parameters that eventually result in a /bin/sh command line

Samba, nmbd, HA
Has anyone ever setup a pair of fileservers running Samba such that each server can takeover the other server's functionality and identity? It seems to me that a Samba HA setup would be very similar to a virtual server Samba setup. In other words, use the 'include' directive in conjunction with the %L variable to make each smbd process act as the server named by the client. So far so

PATCH: 'source environment' param and % token subs for 'netbios name'
Attached please find unified diffs against Samba 2.0.6. I'm hoping that others will find it useful and that it may even find its way into Samba 2.0.7 This patch does two things: - Modifies the handling of the 'netbios name' parameter so that standard_sub_basic() is run on its value when the 'netbios name' parameter is processed. This has to be done this way because
