Top shows brtfs-cache-1 and brtfs-endio-met while the hard drives seem busy
Hi, I have setup about a year ago a BTRFS RAID 1 filesystem on two 2TB Western Digital WD20EARS hard drives and I have created subvolumes that I mount regularly as I need them. I put mostly music, videos and various files on them as well as some Git bare repositories for my work files but for the last couple of weeks, there seems to be some activity happening on the drives for a few minutes...

Seagate ST32000542AS and ZFS perf
Hi, Does anyone use Seagate ST32000542AS disks with ZFS? I wonder if the performance is not that ugly as with WD Green WD20EARS disks. Thanks, -- Piotr Jasiukajtis | estibi | SCA OS0072 http://estseg.blogspot.com

mirror writes 10x slower than individual writes
I have an odd setup at present, because I''m testing while still building my machine. It''s an Intel Atom D510 mobo running snv_134 2GB RAM with 2 SATA drives (AHCI): 1: Samsung 250GB old laptop drive 2: WD Green 1.5TB drive (idle3 turned off) Ultimately, it will be a time machine backup for my Mac laptop. I have no idea what that''s about, but the drives will drop to 0 every couple of seconds, and repeat. My system is as follows: 10 WD20EARS (bad idea? I only found out after I bought them.) in raidz2 config 32GB SSD for root drive for OS install Supermicro USAS-L8i HBA card (1068E chipset I believe?) 6GB RAM 500 watt power supply AMD Athlon II X2 260 CPU Here''s my zpool: pool: rpool state: ONLINE scan: none requested config...

cannot replace X with Y: devices have different sector alignment
Well this is a new one.... Illumos/Openindiana let me add a device as a hot spare that evidently has a different sector alignment than all of the other drives in the array. So now I''m at the point that I /need/ a hot spare and it doesn''t look like I have it. And, worse, the other spares I have are all the same model as said hot spare. Is there anything I can do with this or
