WinbinD no longer available in Samba 4.7.6
...ports - thus, I assume, it
serves winbind itself. However, it isn't available any more for PAM. How
shall I use Samba internal winbind implementation? When I initially
installed and set up ADs, wbinfo worked fine. Currently, it says:
# wbinfo -P
could not obtain winbind interface details:
WBC_ERR_WINBIND_NOT_AVAILABLE
could not obtain winbind domain name!

Problems after migration from samba 3.5.2 to samba 4.3.1

CPU
4 – On File Servers, run a “ls -l” on directories with user/groups
permissions from domain is very slow
5 – Sometimes, file servers lost connections to winbind process.
wbinfo -t
checking the trust secret for domain UEL.BR via RPC calls failed
failed to call wbcCheckTrustCredentials: WBC_ERR_WINBIND_NOT_AVAILABLE
Could not check secret
I have tried to find wath is wrong, but not found the solution yet.
Can someone help me ?

Samba4 + Winbind
Hello Marc,
Thanks for your documentation.
Well I followed what you wrote, perhaps my wbinfo command fails when I try to test the connectivity.
# wbinfo --ping-dc
checking the NETLOGON dc connection failed
failed to call wbcPingDc: WBC_ERR_WINBIND_NOT_AVAILABLE
Could not ping our DC
My smb.conf is now this:

netbios name = DEVLUCAS1

winbind does not work+sernet package+samba 4.2
Hello
After failing to join my samba box to winAD 2012, I went and downloaded
the sernet packages
and samba box join the AD domain using "samba-tool" with no problems.
However I've got problems with winbind.
wbinfo -u returns:
could not obtain winbind interface details: WBC_ERR_WINBIND_NOT_AVAILABLE
could not obtain winbind domain name!
