Solaris 8 and winbindd/wbinfo
Hi All,
I cannot get my Samba server 2.2.8 working with winbind correctly on Solaris
8.
I intend to use this to transparently authenticate squid 2.5stable2.
I compiled samba using gcc 2.95.3. configure options were
./configure --with-winbind-auth-challenge --with-winbind --with-pam
root# ./wbinfo -t
Secret is good
root# ./wbinfo -u
0xc0000022
The same thing with wbinfo -g.

Using Winbind with Squid
Hello,
I've configured a squid proxy server to use the wb_auth module to
authenticate NT Users . I'm aware that this is not the squid users mailing
list but since the wb_auth modle uses the winbind application i thought this
might be a good place to look for some help.
Basically, the wb_auth module asks winbind to authenticate a users. Winbind

Winbind sutff (Squid and Windows 2003)
Fellows, hello...
My first post. :)
The environment:
Samba 3.0.5, Windows 2003 (domain controller), Squid 2.5-STABLE and
FreeBSD 5.2.1.
I'm facing this problem:
While trying to authenticate the users inside Windows 2003 through the
proxy server, using the wb_auth auth program, i can see the lines
below in my log.winbindd
[2004/08/09 22:28:12, 0] nsswitch/winbindd.c:process_loop(726)
process_loop: Invalid request size from pid 1235: 1304 bytes sent,
should be 1824
This usually means that you are running old wbinfo, pam_winbind or
libnss_winbind clients...

SUSE 9.3 Winbind+ PAM+AD
...-adminguide_en/sec.update.version.html
4.2.3.16. From Samba 2.x to Samba 3.x
Following the update from Samba 2.x to Samba 3.x, winbind authentication is
no longer available. The other authentication methods can still be used. For
this reason, the following programs have been removed:
/usr/sbin/wb_auth
/usr/sbin/wb_ntlmauth
/usr/sbin/wb_info_group.pl
Is this true? Will I not be able to use winbind authentication with SUSE
9.3? Does this rule apply only during the update?
The system-auth stacks are setup a little differently in SUSE 9.3 in
relation to Fedora Core. I now see common-auth commo...
