I think there must be some introduction somewhere. I couldn't find it in 'Writing R Extension'. Could anybody point out somewhere or some wayI can implement the above two things? Thanks a lot! [Fwd: problems with ppp]
Hi, I installed CentOS 3.3 and kept the machine up2date. I installed poptop and the newest ppp-cvs version ( ppp-2.4.3-0.cvs_20040527.6) We are running a ssh + ppp tunnel for our internet tunnel/tunnel to our NOC. After the upgrade we see these error messages while starting the tunnel: Jan 24 15:00:40 natgw modprobe: modprobe: Can't locate module ppp-compress-26 Jan 24 15:00:40 natgw

Disks for virtualization
I'm not looking to move virtual machines between physical platforms; just want some protection between applications sharing a physical server. They'll all be using local disk in one form or another. Much the easiest to manage is just having the virtual machine use a file in dom0 as its disk. Without pre-allocating, this lets me over-commit somewhat to cover unknown future needs, for

Re: Multiple client access same file
Ohh, hmm. I'll try it at work if I get some time and see what happens. I have a Samba benchmark I can run against one of our unused servers, and I'll try to have 16 "users" access the same iso copied and mounted twice, just as you're doing. I might not get time to do this next week, so in the mean time, a good troubleshooting technique is to strip any as many smb.conf

ext4, 4k sector alignment
I've mentioned this problem before but put off doing anything about it and maybe now someone can suggest the best solution. I have a 3-member RAID1 set where one of the members is periodically swapped and rotated offsite. The filesystem contains a backuppc archive which has millions of hardlinks that make it impractical to copy with a file-oriented approach. The current filesystem is

...nfolder. That was also the case with the SCGI runner. I used thetrick outlined athttp://comments.gmane.org/gmane.comp.lang.ruby.rails/23347 to managethis. I was curious if a similar trick would be the best way tohandle this issue with Mongrel. I''m hoping that there''s a simpler wayI''ve overlooked. -- Kyle MaxwellChief TechnologistE Factor Media // FN Interactivekyle at efactormedia.com1-866-263-3261

Unable to REGISTER to the Asterisk v1.8.3.3 server via SIP/TLS
Hello all, I have installed the .deb packages of the Asterisk v1.8.3.3 from the upstream project on my Debian GNU/Linux Squeeze server and bought the Comodo's PossitiveSSL SSL certificate to be used for my SIP/TLS exercise. After setting up everything and trying to fix this problem, I am still getting a 401 Unauthorized SIP message. So as of this writing, I still cannot successfully REGISTER
