Below is the output of smbtestparm, I can also send smb.conf if needed. I
have tried changing the security from "domain" to "user" or "share" but to
no avail.
Many thanks in advance for any advice!

Does anyone have any ideas? If you need more information (version
numbers etc.) please let me know, although I stress again that
everything was working perfectly until I changed the hostname of my
Linux box.
Thanks.

Extension proposal - partly serious
Alright folks, here's the solution.
1) Keep extensions to 3 letters for audio & video. Except for special
situations where the user might be doing a codec specific name. Since the
official extensions are 3 letters, those can always be used on any 8.3

preference for Xiph only codecs. (If you want 3rd

LDAP auth_bind=yes in rc21 = goodness
Hi all,
I finally got a chance to try out the fix for the LDAP auth_bind=yes
issues in production (using rc21). It seems to be working just fine even
after 24 hours of severe abuse.
Incidentally, I had switched to bsdauth+login_ldap (on OpenBSD) which was
often OK, but occasionally I would see Postfix smtpd throttled with SASL
errors due to "connection refused" on the Dovecot

sending "WinPopup" message to a user
Just wondering if there is a way to send a WinPopup message to a user
(using username). I have had a look at smbclient but it appears to only
allow sending messages to a computer name.
Thanks in advance,

LDAP authentication stops working...
Hi all,
I'm running dovecot-1.0.rc17 on OpenBSD 3.9, using userdb and passdb
methods of "ldap" (SSL on 636/tcp) in addition to "passwd".
Occasionally (generally after a few hours of operation, but not always),
LDAP-based logins stop working (e.g. hang/timeout after POP3 PASS
command). Accounts with local passwords (as opposed to accounts with a
password field of
