Using memdisk to remotely flash BIOS
I am using memdisk to remotely flash the BIOS and other firmware. It works well for most flash programs. After the flash I need to initialize the NIC to send a signal to my management server that the flash is complete. I am curious as to how others have solved this problem. Thanks.

Real sh? Or other efficient shell for non-interactive scripts
...he FSF does not try to sue VERITAS, we are safe - > regardless what intentional nonsense you can read on the FSF webpages. I just remembered a counterpoint to this. Back in the Windows 3.0 days when windows had no tcp networking of its own, I put together a DOS binary built from gnutar and the wattcp stack so you could back up a windows or dos box to a unix system via rsh. And when I tried to give it away I was contacted and told that I couldn't distribute it because even though wattcp was distributed in source, it had other conflicts with the GPL. As a side effect of getting it to buil...

Has anyone ever ported SMBCLIENT to WATTCP?
And are there any other (free) DOS-based SMB clients without the huge lower (<640K) memory requirements.

tftp pxe and dos
So I have a few questions. I have already made the base part of making a windows TFTPD running with memedisk. So that part works, but what I was wondering, if there is a way to some how add an option to the config file. What I have is something like this: label winstall kernel unattended/memdisk append initrd=unattended/winstall.imz That all works great, However, for each image, I have

The GPL is all that gives you permission to distribute. If it is void then you have no permission at all to distribute any

Slow Transfers from DOS/LANMAN (again)
...us that the Linux/Samba end is functioning, but something is artificially restricting the data rate. I have NOT yet gone back to MS Client 3.0 or LANMAN 2.2c to see if I could reconfigure them to work this well, and this is the version I'm running at present. * I am just starting to look at WatTCP (Watt-32) as a possibility, but have no guarantee that it addresses the problem, and still would need help with low-level drivers and configuration. * In parallel, I looked for sources of DOS-based NFS drivers to eliminate Samba and SMB, but didn't find anything which looked viable. * I haven...
