[Fwd: Building custom _updown script for freeswan to make it talk with shorewall]
...u don''t happen to read shorewall-devel mailinglist ?
I read it -- I just didn''t know what to make of your post and it arrived
while I was on vacation.
What exactly are you trying to accomplish that Shorewall isn''t doing for
you now?
e.g.
/etc/shorewall/zones
rw Roadwarriors Road Warriors
/etc/shorewall/interfraces
rw ipsec+
/etc/shorewall/policy (only if you want to Road Warriors to be able to
access each other''s hosts).
rw rw ACCEPT
rw loc ACCEPT
loc rw ACCEPT
/etc/shorewall/tunnels
ipsec net 0.0.0.0/0 rw
Am I missing something?

multiple VPN zones
...there any information about setting up multiple VPN zones for
different classes of road warrior? E.g. lets say there are two classes
of road warrior:
vpn_a: mobile devices
vpn_b: laptop devices (trusted more than the mobile devices)
The IPsec platform (e.g. StrongSwan) gives all the road warriors a pool
IP. It uses different pools for users from vpn_a and vpn_b
Looking at the ShoreWall IPsec example in the link above, it suggests
that all of 0.0.0.0/0 has to be mapped to a single VPN zone in the
/etc/shorewall/tunnels file, so it''s not clear that Shorewall can cope
with multiple...

Bridging Firewall with windows OpenVPN road warriors?
...that i''ve upgraded I would like to use the openvpn features in
shorewall. I would like to set up some roadwarrior clients with the
Windows Openvpn client [ http://openvpn.se/ ] and my linux/shorewall
firewall on the other side. I would like to play games between the lan
and the road warriors so it has to be able to do bridging. The examples
I see in the documentation use tun interfaces.. (tun=Not bridging
correct?) So my question is could someone either point me to some
documentation that will explain a bridging road warrior setup or give me
a synopsis?

eDonkey and Shorewall
Hi everybody!
I''m very happy with shorewall, seems to safe my computer well, a little
bit to well. But i''m sure it''s a mistake of mine:
I can''t get edonkey working! They say that edonkey needs the following
ports enabled:
4665 udp in / out
3665,4665,7665,8665 udp out
4661,4662,4666 tcp in
thats what i wrote in the rules file:

Xen 4.0 Custom kernels
Hi there guys.
I''m using CentOS 5.4, I was able to compile my custom Dom0 kernel and boot
it, now I''ve got some doubts.
I''d like to compile a custom DomU image, the problem is that when I do, make
kernels KERNELS="linux-2.6-xen0 linux-2.6-xenU" it tries to download the
kernel
from the HG repository which seems to have old 2.6.18 kernels, I want to use

Is there anything I can do?
Thanks.

Samba and VPN Road Warrior setup
Hi,
I have setup a Linux + FreeS/WAN VPN firewall/gateway to provide
Out-of-Office access. I have used DHCP to provide a small subnet block of
Internal IPs for use by the external VPN Road Warriors, (All running
XP with SSH Sentinel), on their Virtual network interfaces, and the VPN
gateway performs ARP proxy on the internal interface so packets go to the
right place. No NAT is performed on this traffic.
Perhaps some ASCII art also helps, (any excuse):

Folder Sync for road warriors in a Samba 4.8.x setup?
...#39;t always have
access to the network shares configured by GPO and Logon scripts from the
Samba servers when they take the laptop to school. (The Samba servers
aren't our fileservers but the shares are hosts on RHEL7 hosts too).
What do people use to make files available offline for road
warriors/students and sync them back to the fileservers when they come
home? Are there known gotchas, do's and dont's? I'd like to avoid using
OneDrive and GDrive. I am currently Wondering if Windows Folder Sync would
work in such a setup. The mobile users are all using Window 10 1803 x64

Dynamic Zones
The version of Shorewall in the CVS development tree contains the first
implementation of dynamic zones. While these zones are aimed at IPSEC Road
Warriors, there is nothing ipsec-specific in the implementation except for
a small extension in the tunnels file.
There are two new commands: add and delete
shorewall {add|delete} <interface>[:<host or subnet>] zone
The interface must have been defined at the time that Shorewall was last...

IPSEC, multiple subnets and multiple road warriors, oh my! :)
...rtainly makes life easier. I''ve deployed Shorewall on both
our Toronto and Ottawa office firewalls, and have configured a
FreeS/WAN IPSEC VPN between them, and all works quite nicely.
The next phase of the project involves granting access to both the
Toronto and Ottawa networks to roadwarriors with IPSEC clients. This
is where I''ve become a bit confused. I''m not really looking for
specific help with my config settings, as I can likely figure those out
myself. I just want to wrap my head around the logical configuration
issues.
I''ve read about Dynamic IP...

Bridge LAN for Windows Road Warrior
A couple days ago with help from Guus I got my basic setup running. I played and switched around parameters, modes, subnets etc and always got things working in each config.
Trying to move on, I only just now realised that for what I ultimately want to do, I would have to make every machine in my office LAN a tinc node, which I’m not allowed to. I’m allowed to build up a “tinc gateway” (can be

CPU load. IPSec can be quite CPU intensive. So can asterisk. Putting two
CPU-intensive, time-sensitive applications on one machine is asking for
trouble. It may work, though, if you don't have too many simultaneous
users.

Road Warrior phone config
I have a client who works from three locations, he has a Polycom 500 at each
location connected to the same PBX. How would you configure the phones? Is
it practical to have the extension follow him, I don't want to rely on him
turning the phone off when he leaves each location, but he does want to
maintain the same extension and voicemail.

WINS-road warriors-spoolss
Hi
I have an issue with XP PRO laptop users that use their laptops to
login locally on the LAN and also remotely via a VPN connection at
night/weekends.
After logging in remotely the next time they login locally on the LAN
they experience extreme slowness with opening applications such as
Word, printing and browsing print queues etc.
The problem appears to be that the entry for their

[IAX] Recommended soft- and hardphones?
Hello
Since SIP/RTP is a pain to use with road warriors who need to connect
from any location over the Internet, I'd like to get them some IAX
phones instead.
For those of you using this protocol instead of SIP, what would you
recommend as IAX hardphones and Windows (and ideally Mac) softphones?
Thank you.

Avoid some hosts/networks to see each other
...I have a few other gateways (customers) which should connect to this
central server (there's a firewall on this machine too) which have
behind the customer network.
Then I have a few single servers which still connect to my centralized
VPN, with no network behind.
And then I have some road-warriors which connect mainly with the central
VPN, but could also connect to other's gateways as well if necessary.
Communication should go through direct link if possible.
What I want to achieve is:
1. road-warriors should be able to access all the VPN connected
hosts/networks.
2. Central network s...
