Here's a walkthrough for how to install and run
Database Designer for PostgreSQL and
Database Designer for MySQL.
Every step is screenshotted, including setting up the winehq repository:

Walkthrough available for bonding, bridging, and VLAN's?
Silvertip257, when you did this CentOS 6/KVM/bonding/bridging, did you
ever get all the parts playing together correctlhy?
I'm facing a setup with only two NIC's, and need for multiple trunked
VLAN access, and bonded pairs, and KVM based bridges to get the VM's
with exposed IP addresses. I can get basically any 2 out of the 3
server network components working, binding, VLAN's, or

walkthrough: Rails 2.0 startup process
I haven’t found a complete big-picture walkthrough for the Rails
startup process when I looked for one recently.
There are some really useful resources about this but they are for
Rails 1.2 and each of them only covers certain parts of the process.
Thus, I’ve taken some notes while reading to the Rails code and
compiled the following guide from them.

Cent OS 5 server setup walkthrough
I have just finished setting up and configuring a server running CentOS 5
with 2 Xen VMs. This article describes my journey through this, including
the problems I faced and there solutions. It documents the installation of
CentOS 5, from a single CD, adding software, configuring squid, NFS, Xen,
etc and sharing yum cache and lot more!
I request everyone to check this out and tell me what should I

Wiki: Omega walkthrough
Finally had a chance to read this - looks great, thanks Jim!
I think we can improve it ever so slightly by being a little more
explicit at the end:

> --url /book /var/www/book
> }}}
[...]

CentOS 5 based distribution
I've been trying to create a Linux distribution based on CentOS 5, similar
to (actually, exactly like) how CentOS is based on RHEL. I have been unable
to find any information about this. Most of what I find are tutorials and
instructions on using Kickstart. Sometimes I've found allusions to doing
this, but nothing that gives all the instructions necessary to modify

redhat rpm install and quick start
I installed Xapian and Omega following the instructions for the RHEL 5 RPM package found at xapian.org.
I was going to perform the quick start instructions, but there is not "omnidex" for the omindex --db DBPATH --url / WEBPATH command.
The quick start also mentions running omega from usr/lib/omega/bin; however that was not created as well using the RHEL 5 RPM.
Is there a walkthrough on

SIP only
Initially I'm setting up asterisk to do SIP only, no cards, no connection to
PSTN or ISDN - just receiving 'calls' via SIP, answering them and playing a
message.. Can anyone point me to a walkthrough that is focused on SIP
alone? Thanks.

Custom VFS
...t possible to use Java with JNI wrapper to communicate with my
backend or does it have to be pure C/C++ ?
2) are the notifications (file deletion/creation etc.) available in VFS, in
other words notifying samba server and applications that directory has
changed?
3) are there any examples/tutorials/walkthroughs or up to date
documentation for VFS?

Need help installing some software
I need help installing some software. I've tried with Red Hat's version
of wine, Transgaming's version, and the CVS version (latest try is
wine-cvs-opengl-120902-1 from http://wine.dataparty.no/).
I get different results with all of them.
Could anyone do a walkthrough with me using any of the above versions?
Sometimes it seems like there is just a registry problem, other times it

newbie q: acts as authenticated or login engine?
I''m trying to create a basic web page where people can register. Before
they are approved they are emailed a link where that they must click in
order to verify their info is correct (or at least their email).
Should I use acts as authenticated or the login engine for this?

e1000 gig nic howto?
We have a 10Gbps connection to our server so I need to be able to create VMs using the faster e1000 nics instead of the default Realtek 100Mbps ones but I''m not sure how to go about it.
Is there a walkthrough or "howto" or can someone point me at some simple instructions?
I''m using xen-3.0.3-105.el5_5.5 and Centos 5.5 kernel 2.6.18-194.32.1.el5.centos.plusxen

Good [L]AMP tutorial for CentOS 5.2 ?
Being slightly familiar with BSD, I'm trying to get my feet wet with
Linux, and was wondering if anyone can suggest a good walkthrough of
setting up a CentOS server with Apache, PHP, and MySQL...
I realize there are step-by-step guides of the sort "copy-this-line-
paste-into-terminal-and-hit-enter", but I'd like to understand what's
going on when I issue a single wget

Does Dovecot LDAP auth support LDAP referral
We using Dovecot with LDAP.
From the beginning, we using GC LDAP query with port 3268 for email
accounts.
For example, user1 at our-organization.org (in the USA) with "base =
dc=our-organization, dc=org" works fine.
But refer to this document:
https://wiki2.dovecot.org/AuthDatabase/LDAP
When we change the LDAP from 3268 to 389 and with TLS, the base should
be changed like this:

Cucumber "standard base" setup?
I''m trying to set up cucumber so we can try it in some Ruby automation
scripts I''m working on. These will be straight Ruby, for use in BBEdit
and TextMate (on the Mac).
NOT Rails.
The big early-stage stumbling block I''m having is setting up the
initial Rakefile and directory structure. I think I''m rtfm''ing, but
clearly I''m missing
