Ogg Vorbis DirectShow decoder filter - ongoing development ?
Hi,
ome of you may know me, i am one of the project admins of a video
related opensource project. For playback of Vorbis audio tracks in
movies, if being played on M$ via DirectShow, we are currently using the
Vorbis decoder filter from Tobias Waldvogel. However, we found out that
this decoder filter is not acting DirectShow compliant with respect to
handling of timestamps. When passing the data from the Ogg/OGM
parser/splitter filter this is no issue as both are probably synced very
well internally, but if the filter shall be used from other...

Header structure for "video" stream ?
I am writing a tool that gives information on movie files (http://avicodec.duby.info/) and I want to add ogg support.
I have found full of information on ogg file format, vorbis file format, but nothing on the "video" bitstreams that I can found in some ogg files (with XVID movies mixed with vorbis audio for example).
I can see that the "video" structe looks like this, but

Where is this WiMP plugin that supports Icecast2 Vorbis streams? I would be
very much interested in that.
And where also is the Real plugin?

Bug in ogglib leads to incomplete packets
There seems to be a bug in ogg lib:
The error occurs in the following situation:
- You have called ogg_stream_reset
- You deliver a page to the stream which contains
only the "middle of packet. I.e. not the beginning
and not the end.
(packets = 0 continued = 1)
- You deliver the next page which contains
the end of the page before and some more
(packets >= 1 )

Channel coupling
Unfortunately nobody has answered to my question about the channel mapping.
:-(
Are there any new ideas how save the channel mapping in multichannel vorbis
streams?
In addition it might be interessting thinking about using channel coupling
for storing the same content in different langauges (because many things
like background music are supposed to be the same). But there would be the

Project announcement : opensource Vorbis DirectShow decoder filter
...an account on
corecodec.org and passes me his nickname via email, so i can add him as
dev to the project. We will use our own CVS there for our convenience,
hope this is acceptable.
This step was necessary, as it was found that the only widespread
DirectShow decoder for Vorbis, made by Tobias Waldvogel (
http://toias.everwicked.com ), does not comply to the rules of
DirectShow in important aspects such as timestamp handling, making it
almost impossible to use the decoder filter from anything else but his
own Ogg splitter filter without running into serious sync problems.
Important :

OggVDS Where?
Where can I download the Ogg Vorbis DirectShow Filter? I've heard,
that there is a newer version than 0.9.9.5. There's a bug in either
OggMux or Tobias' Filter which causes text to be erased after special
(unicode?) characters in the chapter list.

AW: Ogg Vorbis and DirectSound streaming
BTW: You can pass also the float32 data directly to DirectSound instead of
doing the conversion (float32->int16) yourself. Have a look at
"WAVEFORMATEXTENSIBLE" in the Windows Platform SDK

Skipping with vorbisfile playback using DirectSound
I'm having a problem trying to write a simple vorbis file player using
DirectSound. The decoding portion is pretty much straight from the
vorbisfile sample code. The pcm data gets put into one half of a
DirectSound buffer, and as that half is playing, the next half gets filled.
The problem is, there's skipping and some noise when the file is being
played (although some of the music is

There is no need to store the length. If it is just one stream you can
go to the end of the file, take the last "granulepos". You have just to
convert it in to a meaningful unit like time.

2.2 OggDS DirectShow Filters in CVS
Jack received the source code for Tobias Waldvogel's OggDS DirectShow
filters, and imported it into CVS as the oggds module. This code is
version 0.9.9.3, and it is supposed to be feature complete except for
problems with Unicode characters in Vorbis comments.
The OggDS filters bring Ogg Vorbis support to any DirectShow

Quicktime Vs Windows encoding with VP3
I found out about vp3 from the new winamp and coincidentally i also happen to be trying to find a suitable solution to broadband streaming.
I have used flaskmpeg to create a 17mb .avi file from an 82mb Mpeg 1 file and it looks great it took about twenty minutes to encode. It runs for eight minutes and the audio is also fantastic using the lame encoder.
However when I try to do the same in

New Directshow filters preview...
I have been developing some directshow filters for ogg, and vorbis and speex... currently i have an ogg demux filter and a speex/vorbis decoding filter. In this pre-release only vorbis is operational... but the speex decoder is pretty much done... i jsut need to tweak the demux filter so that it can negotiate a speex connection with the other filter. Just though some people might find them useful

Channel mapping
I'm currently adding multi channel playback support to my DirectShow
Ogg/Vorbis filters and looking for a place to store the channel mapping. Are
there already specs how and where to store it. There was already a
suggestion 8 months ago
(http://www.xiph.org/archives/vorbis-dev/200107/0026.html) to store it in a
tag but the answer was that it should go into header. Is there any new about
this?
