Implementation for selecting lag of a lag window spectral estimator using generalized cross validation (using deviance)
Dear All, I am looking for: A software to select the lag length for a lag window spectral estimator. Also, I have a small query in the reprex given below. Background for the above, from the book by Percival and Walden: 1. We are given X_1,...,X_n which is one realization of a stochastic process. 2. We may compute the periodogram using FFT, for example by the function spectrum in R. 3. The above is badly biased so we taper X_1,...,X_n to reduce the bias in the periodogram. 4. Now that the bias in under control,...

Problem with R on Kubuntu
Hi, I installed R on a system running Kubuntu and everything seemed to work fine about a month ago. I tried to use R this morning and received the following message: "error while loading shared libraries: libreadline.so.4: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory" I haven't been able to find a fix for this online, and was hoping someone on the list had a

Wavelets correlation test
Hello, I use wavethresh packages to perform wavelet analysis. In particular, I would like to compare 2 signals (vectors) after a wavelet decomposition. I would like to use cor.test function, but this function acts on the entire vector values. I plan to perform a cor.test on each level of the wavelet decomposition, say N. So I will have at the end of a first step N results of cor.test. How can

Std Err on Concentration measures
Hi, I'm using the ineq package to calculate some concentration measures (Gini, Herfindal, ...) and I was wondering if there's around also a function to calculate standard error on these measures. If not, is anybody aware of where I can find a reference on this point? Thanks. -- ======================================================== Angelo Secchi PGP Key ID:EA280337

Checking remote servers
I''d like to hear some suggestions about securely administering a system remotely. Here''s the application: a project is going to scatter some server machines around the US. The server machines will be running Linux, with the only network servers being a custom application. Ignoring the separate question of physical security, how can I remotely check the system''s
