[PATCH v2 27/27] drm/dp_mst: Add topology ref history tracking for debugging
For very subtle mistakes with topology refs, it can be rather difficult
to trace them down with the debugging info that we already have. I had
one such issue recently while trying to implement suspend/resume
reprobing for MST, and ended up coming up with this.
Inspired by Chris Wilson's wakeref tracking for i915, this adds a very
similar feature to the DP MST helpers, which allows for partial tracking
of topology refs for both ports and branch devices. This is a lot less
advanced then wakeref tracking: we merely keep a count of all of the
spots where a topology ref has been grabbed or dro...

[PATCH v3 3/8] drm/fb_helper: Introduce hotplug_suspend/resume()
...on reapproaching with a proper fix.
That being said: i915 is also more of a special case compared to other
drivers, mainly because i915 does still have to deal with all these problems
but has it's own handlers that simplify dealing with it. For runtime resume,
you guys call down to disable_rpm_wakeref_asserts() during a portion of the
runtime suspend process to avoid the potential of something trying to grab a
runtime power reference and deadlocking the process, and additionally do the
same thing in your irq handler in i915_irq.c:

This is the large series for adding MST suspend/resume reprobing that
I've been working on for quite a while now. In addition, I:
- Refactored and cleaned up any code I ended up digging through in the
process of understanding how some parts of these helpers worked.
- Added some debugging tools along the way that I ended up needing to
figure out some issues in my own code
