Performance is pretty poor to put it politely - primary use is a single samba share with a very large directory structure, millions of files. Can anyone suggest any improvements that can stop it being that slow? I regularly see 50+% in waitio. Version in use samba 3.2.5-4lenny7, and I'd rather not change off the formal release path unless it'll make a big improvement. How can I tell if this is normal behaviour? Oracle imports are horribly slow, an order of magnitude slower than on the same hardware with a slower disk array and Solaris 9.
