permission issues between 3.4.0 & 3.0.3?
...win2k3), the SA defined a shared resource.
The share-permissions tab the "domain users" group has typical permissions,
and in the security permissions tab the "domain users" has "read & exec",
"show" and "read".
In the server the structure is
\\w2k3server\share1\dir1\dir2\target
the "share" resource maps to c:\share, with the permissions described above.
Both folders dir1 and dir2 haven't any permissions to the user I'm using to
connect (test-user)
"Target" folder has permissions to allow test-user to read, list, write,...

Printer Driver Delivery - Printing Preferences Error
...d of the Samba server. Even when I have both the samba and Windows Server 2003 printers side-by-side this problem exists for one but not the other.
Upon further investigation I see that there are sub keys of:
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Print\Providers\LanMan Print Services\w2k3server\Printers\XeroxWorkCentre5735PS
Namely: PnPData, PrinterDriverData, PrintProcCacheData,
And these keys don't exist under the equivalent \sambaserver\Printers\XeroxWorkCentre5735PS key.
I've tried merging the missing keys (and missing values from DsSpooler & PrinterDriverData) from one...

Problems writing to a mounted CIFS share
...can be mounted with mount.cifs, but despite using the rw mount option, the mountpoint can only be accessed read-only. Trying to write on the share results in a permission denied error. This happens on a 2.4.21 kernel with the shipped CIFS kernel module.
The mount command used is:
mount.cifs //<w2k3server>/<share>$ /mnt \
-o username=<user>,workgroup=<workgroup>,password=<pwd>,file_mode=0664,dir_mode=0775,uid=<localuid>,gid=<localgid>,rw
The kernel output after enabling extended debugging:
dir.c: CIFS VFS: in cifs_lookup as Xid: 108299 with uid: 0
dir.c:...

2k3Srv ADS, debian member server, Ubuntu workstations and no write access to share (security =ADS mode, winbind, krb5)
...(I cant get
write access to files using Gedit or openoffice under gnome -I can
apparently execute a logon as a domain user NEXUS+sci1 for example).
Strangely I can create an empty file, rename it to .txt and then open it
in Gedit (but only read only)! I am confused also because if I log on
to the W2k3Server as Administrator and examine the share I have write
permission and can alter files (I also have this user as an admin user
in the smb.conf). I am not sure my pam.d/gdm and other pam files are
right. I also get asked for auth to access the share after logging on
as a domain user (which I need to f...
