ZFS with Memory Sticks
OK, I''ve been putting off this question for a while now, but it eating at me, so I can''t hold off any more. I have a nice 8 gig memory stick I''ve formated with the ZFS file system. Works great on all my Solaris PC''s, but refuses to work on my Sparc processor. So I''ve formated it on my Sparc machine (Blade 2500), works great there now, but not on

intrstat prints incomplete interrupt statistics
...in the documentation. > 6284911 args to interrupt-start and interrupt-complete need more info Hmm, I noticed that, too. There''s currently a thread on yahoo''s solarisx86 mailing list, with an snv_20 user complaining about high interrupt rates (> 32000 interrupts/sec) on a w2100z: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/solarisx86/message/29841 The interrupts are most likely acpi interrupts, but "intrstat" does not report any acpi interrupt activity. This is because arg0 == NULL for acpi interrupts in the interrupt-start action inside intrstat, so that intrstat won'...

Wine error "sysi86: Invalid Argument"?
...ing to follow the User's Guide and am getting nowhere. I've tried both the Blastwave "Mature Vintage" (2005/04/19) and the "Blended" (2005/07/25), and when I try to run 'winecfg' or 'wine' itself, I get: sysi86: Invalid Argument I am using a Metropolis W2100z Opteron with a 64-bit Solaris 10 x86 kernel. Any ideas? It seems lots of folks are asking the same question on the forum.sun.com site, but no answers so far. If it casts any light, trussing the execution shows it dying here: sysi86(SI86DSCR, 0x08046E20, 0xFEF02CD4, 0x000000C8) Err#22 EINVAL I...

ZFS RAID-Z for Two-Disk Workstation Setup?
...a integrity. Does anyone know if ZFS RAID-Z I/O performance "scales" well on only two disks, or is it only slightly better than a single disk or mirrored pool? In other words, what''s the performance penalty running ZFS RAID-Z on only two disks? Disks in question are U320 SCSI (W2100z) or SATA (Ultra 20). Any other insights or suggestions on this topic? Thanks. This message posted from opensolaris.org

Plot dies with memory not mapped (segfault) (PR#9785)
...5.0 (2007-04-23) OS: Solaris Nevada Build 55b Submission from: (NULL) (65.101.229.198) I find that running this script causes R to segfault reliably. However, running just for one system at a time (modifying the for loop updating iter to run just for a system at a time works). The system is a Sun W2100z with 12 GB of ram, and R segfaults using only around 360 MB of ram. I can include MySQL output fed to the script on request, but it's usually for failure data around a max of 1,000 data points in the "failureQuery", and less than 30,000 for "usageQuery". I can generate a cor...

weird bug with Seagate 3TB USB3 drive
...I receive the evil message: | I/O request is not aligned with 4096 disk sector size. | It is handled through Read Modify Write but the performance is very low. However, that''s not my big issue as I will use the zpool-12 hack. My big issue is that once I zpool(1M) export the pool from my W2100z running S10 or my Ultra 40 running S11x, I can''t import it. I thought weird USB connectivity issue, but I can run "format -> analyze -> read" merrily. Anyone seen this bug? John groenveld at acm.org

A couple of issues
I''ve been testing ZFS since it came out on b27 and this week I BFUed to b30. I''ve seen two problems, one I''ll call minor and the other major. The hardware is a Dell PowerEdge 2600 with 2 3.2GHz Xeons, 2GB memory and a perc3 controller. I have created a filesystem for over 1000 users on it and take hourly snapshots, which destroy the one from 24 hours ago, except the
