Cannot access samba users from Windows Server 2008 r2 trust
Hi, our setup is Samba 3.3.12 as the Trusted Domain (Domain name: SAMBA) Windows 2008r2 as the Trusting Domain (Domain name: W2008) The trust itself works quite well, users of the SAMBA Domain are able to log into the workstations of the W2008 domain and even roaming profiles are working. However, when I try to configure permissions on a share of the W2008r2 server to users from the SAMBA domain (e.g. SAMBA\jsmith), while I...

migrating from Samba 3 PDC to W2008 AD
Hi all, I already can successfully join Samba 3 (3.3.x) server to AD domain and setup winbind service to see domain users on linux server. The main problem for me is that I want to save all already existing uids and gids on linux server without any change. Firstly, I can map domain user to unix user with "username map" option vova = CORP\vova But this trick doesn't work for

Problem accessing a share on a W2008 server via smbclient
Hi We just installed a W server 2008 server as antivirus server. As this server is heavily underused we created a share to backup files from other servers. This share is easily accessed from XP pro Pc's via \\ipadr\share and giving a user/password name on the W 2008 server. We then try to use it from an open suse 9.3 linux server via smbclient. smbclient //ipadr/share -U user%password

HPUX and Samba 3.023 question
I am sorry if this sounds dumb, but I am sort of a newbie with samba. We have upgraded our active directory domain servers to 2008 and samba 3.07 will not bind to the directory anymore. I have been told that I need to upgrade past 3.022 in order to make it work? First of all is this true? Second, when I went to install it and run it there is an error that it can not find libldap-2.2.so. I

samba4: problems setting up win DC
...ba server and shut it down. However, i run into some troubles i couldn't solve... I successfully upgraded to samba4 (just followed howto article from official documentation) - DNS created, no errors in samba log, machines and users successfully logging in, etc; without any troubles i joined w2008 machine, used dcpromo to promote it to DC (dns records successfully updated), everything went fine, even fmso transfer works without errors. But here's the trouble - this new win DC isn't starting SYSVOL and NETLOGON shares, in event log it states only "eventid 13565", no other...

Re: Poor performance running WinXP x86 hvm underCentOS5.1x64 with xen3.1
I found on some CPUs an ACPI based HVM chews up a lot of CPU time versuses an APIC HVM, so in Windows I would change the computer type in device manager to "Standard PC" and disable acpi in the domain config. -Ross ----- Original Message ----- From: xen-users-bounces@lists.xensource.com <xen-users-bounces@lists.xensource.com> To: xen-users@lists.xensource.com

Replace SBS2003 with Samba4
Hello all, I'm currently investigating the option to completely replace a SBS2003 DC with a Samba4 DC. My research (mostly on samba.org guides) shows that it is feasible, however I'd like to get feedback from the community on my goals. Current status: A Windows SBS 2003 is the PDC and a W2008 R2 server is acting as secondary DC. Domain operational level is 2003. There are ~40-50 users/workstations using the SBS as file server. Until recently, SBS was also the mail server (built-in Exchange 2003) but a couple of months ago we migrated to Office 365. The migration included the setup of Di...

add Samba Printer to Win Server 2008 64bit problem

I can add the printer in XP 32bit and Win 7 64bit using a KonicaMinolta PS driver as client driver. But i can't install any driver (tried so downloaded and Windows standard) on any of our W2008 servers. They're all 64bit. When i choose "connect" on the printer in Explorer (\\faxserv1\printers ->in german \\faxserv1\Drucker) it states that no driver is installed on the samba server. I choose yes to install a driver choose an postscript driver and it starts copying the file...

Why using several Samba4 servers?
Hi! We're trying to figure out the best way to use samba4 in our environment and after testing back and forth we are now left with a question; why would we want to have several samba4 servers? The environment is one HQ with multiple branch offices where each branch office as a network connection to HQ with at least a 2Mbit DSL. The initial idea was to put a samba4 DC in every branch
