VxDs in Wine
I would like to see Mame/32 working in Wine, however, it uses a couple of VxDs to do some things (I think it is timing and joysticks). Normally VxD's do not work in Wine, but Mame/32 is open source. With access to the source code of the VxD's, would it be possible to modify the VxD files to work with Wine? If so, what would need to be done to make the VxD drivers wo...

VXDs under linux?
In order to write a program like wine, you must have a good knowledge of windows and how it works. Would it be possible to write something that would tell Linux how to understand VXDs or WDMs, or write a kernel module that can use them? (I assume there is a reason it hasn't been done yet, but I don't have enough understanding to know why). Thanks Chris

Newbie: any hope of running a dongle-protected app? Aladdin HASP on LPT1...
...h the HASP device driver, I will then be able to get the "device driver" to communicate with the dongle on LPT1? I believe the HASP driver is haspds_windows.dll - there are also a bunch of VXD files, which according to the FAQs won't work on Wine. have I understood correctly these VXDs wouldn't be used on a WinXP box? The app runs fine on XP (so long as the dongle is attached). If this is a hopeless cause I'll just have to dual-boot, use VMWare or whatever. Can anyone point me in the right direction? TIA, Thomas. Linux program that uses DLL?
Hallo, i need some clarity about this is at all possible with wine or not. I have a 3rd party 16-bit DLL that is actually a driver for an external device. Is it possible to write a program in Linux that uses this DLL? I've seen something about winelib that is responsible for DLLs but I have not found out whether this can be done and if so, how. Help! Thank you very much, Axel
