Suddenly getting lots of "Unable to send packet: Address Family mismatch between source/destination" but ONLY on 1 of 2 VPSs in same datacentre.
Two VPSs. Identical setups with the exception of the extension. Same version of everything, Asterisk 14.1, Ubuntu 16.10, same firewall rules and so on - box 2 was cloned from box 1. Both VPSs run in the same datacentre. Suddenly, after weeks of OK, I'm getting lots of this on ONE box only: [Nov 4...

How many guests
Hi Everyone, I have a Dell R210 server which has a Xeon X3430 Quad Core CPU (2.4Ghz x 4) with 8GB of RAM. I intend to use the H200 controller in a RAID1 setup How many VMs do you think I''d be able to run on this machine? Is 20 pushing it? I''d say most (if not all) guests would be in PV mode. /dev/hvc0: No such file or directory
...;m not experiencing any problems, however it makes looking through logs for auditing purposes a bit annoying. Any ideas what this is? I think it has something to do with the "Hypervisor Console", whatever that is? Could it be a security risk at all? As this error would also appear on VPSs hosted out to customers. Linux TCP flaw
Would a successful attack on the IP address of a VPS in a Plesk environment expose the VPS, the Virtual Host or both (and all other VPSs)? ------ Original Message ------ From: "Johnny Hughes" <johnny at centos.org> To: centos at centos.org Sent: 12/08/2016 9:08:23 PM Subject: Re: [CentOS] Linux TCP flaw >On 08/12/2016 05:58 AM, Andrew Dent wrote: >> Thanks for the info Peter. >> The VPS is running...

Multi-user app
Hi All, Which is the best way to handle multi-user applications in Rails (think backpack)? Let me try to explain what I am trying to do: I wrote an application and sold it to different companies. For every company I sold the app to, I deployed a fresh Rails app to a fresh 256MB VPS and provided a superuser account (to the app, not the server). Customers handle their own users from there as

Drupal/MySQL performance in Xen and OpenVZ
...have found several posters [2] suggesting the use of Xen over OpenVZ when it comes to running Drupal sites. One of the main arguments against OpenVZ is unpredictable and variable performance because VPS-hosts tend to overbook their host capacitiy. This is not an issue for us since we host our own VPSs on our own hardware so we are in complete control. So: Is there any reason Xen may be able to outperform OpenVZ for the webserver-setup I have described, or should I just continue to use OpenVZ? Asterisk "virtual hosting"
Hello, I am in the peculiar situation to have to set up a PBX for two independent sites, but operated by the same entity. Yes, I could set up two VPSs and install Asterisk to each, put common stuff (e.g. conferencing setup) into Git and share between both using includes, but for various reasons (among them simplicity and cost), I'd prefer a single Asterisk instance. I know I can #include files from sip.conf and extensions.conf, so making a e...

Adding Foreman to an existing Puppet master
...the Google Forum for Foreman users<https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/foreman-users> (their forum isn''t as active as this one). I only recently learned about The Foreman and I''d like to deploy it on a 64-bit Ubuntu 12.04 LTS workstation to provision/manage a bunch of VPSs. I have an existing master-agent Puppet deployment w/PuppetDB on it''s own VPS. In the Foreman 1.2 Installation Manual, the following is mentioned in a couple of places: The Foreman installer uses Puppet to install Foreman. This guide assumes > that you''ve already installed...

Rails VPS Business Hosting
Greetings, Does anyone have experience with Rails VPS hosting? I''m basically looking for a hosting reseller option so I can have control of my clients domains and hosting. I''m looking for something easy to use; although I like learning it all, and am learning a lot, I am most definitely not a command line linux user type as of yet. The one that I''ve looked at

After upgrade to CentOS 8.1 default gateway missing
...ck up everything was working correct and the default gateway was back. So the first server I needed to reboot two extra times to have the default gateway back and network working. And the second server I needed to reboot only one extra time for the problem to be solved. The two boxes is not VPSs or anything, but bare metal dedicated servers. Also prior to upgrading to CentOS 8.1, these two boxes has been rebooted serveral times previously, without any problems at all. Only after upgrading to CentOS 8.1 this happened on both of them for the first time. I can't believe I am the onl...

7.x and multiple IPs in jails
...least one of those requires multiple IPs, which is something I never really even realized was not supported. What puzzles me more is that before I decided to host this stuff myself, I was shopping for FreeBSD VPS providers, and I noticed that Verio is actually offering what looks like jails as VPSs, and they are offering multiple IPs. Is this something they hacked up and did not contribute back? Is there any firewall hackery to be had that can at least let me do IP based virtual hosts for web hosting? Thanks, Charles

9-STABLE -> NFS -> NetAPP:
I'm running a few servers sitting on top of a NetAPP file server ? everything runs great, but periodically I'm getting: nfs_getpages: error 13 vm_fault: pager read error, pid 11355 (https) errors on my screen ? not always same pid ? the annoying part is that it seems to always affect the same jail that is running .. if I shutdown all jails on that physical server, everything shuts down

.htaccess file
...ockages in your IP Tables firewall and then use your Apache configuration file to restrict any remaining unwanted visitors. .htaccess (its possible in Apache to rename it) is inefficient and suitable as a second-rate solution when you are using a hosted service and lack full control of the server. VPSs are cheap and a better alternative to hosted mail and web. On my servers (C5 and C6) in IP Tables, I have three sets of blockages: * permanent for all ports * only for web (port 80) * only for emails (port 25) In web and emails there is a permanent table plus a monthly one (one for every month)....

Allow customer to stop and start their own VPS, but not others
Hello: One of my customers asked for access to stop and start their VPS. Right now, I can do that using virsh, but I do not want to give this customer the ability to stop and start all VPSs running on the host. Is there a way to give stop and start control of one VPS to someone? I am using KVM on a CentOS 5.5 host. Odd issue with VirtualBox+9-STABLE+bce ...
...y network periodically disappears ? sometimes, it comes back again after a few minutes, other times I have to reboot the server ? This last time, the error on the screen states: bce1: bce_pulse(): Warning: boot code thinks driver is absent! (bc_state = 0x00004006) I had 20 regular 'jail' VPSs running on it before I tried VirtualBox on it,and never had this problem, so figure it has to be something with VirtualBox / kmod ? ? Anyone experiencing any odd issues with VirtualBox and 9-STABLE? Pointers / ideas? Thx ?

Fwd: Error during key creation
Hi all, I'm trying to setup tinc on 2 VPSs following this guide: https://www.linode.com/docs/networking/vpn/how-to-set-up-tinc-peer-to-peer-vpn/ They are of the same type with Ubuntu 18.04. On the the first one, I have manually built and installed tinc without an issue (v.1.0.36). On the second one, I've installed tinc from the repo (v...
