Shared or VPS/dedicated hosting
Hi, I was wander if anyone can tell based on self expirience what would
be limitations for rails app regard shared hosting. For example on
PHP/MySql db driven app on shared hosting can handle 1000 users a day
without problems. I know there are many factors involved but would like
to hear your thoughts, when would you upgrade and if you would deploy
rails app on shared hosting at all.

VPS hosting
Speaking of hosting, have any of you used a VPS provider that offers
gentoo as the VPS OS? All of the ones I know of use fedora, debian,
ubuntu, or CentOS.

Off-topic: Rails hosting
All,
I''ve been looking switching hosting providers, and have been strongly
considering TextDrive. Doing a little Googling turns up a fair
number of complaints that seem to be centered around server
performance, stability and uptime. Since I know a poorly written app
can contribute to all of these, I thought I''d pose the question to

Ok, its time. AJAX Games via Rails....

knows graphics - and without that I''m dead in the water again.
Heres what I think. I think an online multiplayer RPG can be done in
RoR, AJAX, and run on at least Firefox and Internet Explorer. I think
cheap hosting for the game can be found easily (Linode, Rimuhosting,
VPSLand, etc.) to get started. The game will start small and grow.
Obviously this type of game cannot compete with stuff like World of
Warcraft and its not meant to. I don''t plan on allowing people to play
for free other than a trial period because I don''t want to have to foot
serve...

If this was in the docs, I''ve missed it. How can I have multiple
mongrel clusters on a server? All the documentation that I am seeing
seems to assume that I am only running one cluster.
