openvpn client and KDE Network Manager - with CentOS7
...un all my Linux development in a VM and I get a more robust feature set (i.e. shared folders with the host that "just work", etc) The only issue I have thus far is VPN connections. Looking at what's installed on my old Fedora install I suspect I need these packages: kde-plasma-nm-vpnc kde-plasma-nm-openvpn NetworkManager-openvpn NetworkManager-vpnc However none of these are available in CentOS7, Note I have the centos extras and the EPEL repos enabled. I suspect that I need rpmfusion but I don't see that rpmfusion has a repo for CentOS7... Anyone have any thoughts? Can...

VPNC article
I have put the article on the wiki at http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/vpnc I wasn't sure where to put in the main table of contents. In the end, I put it under security, using the FreeBSD ports as an example. It could have also gone under Network. As far as its actual location, as you can see from the link above, I just put it directly under howtos. -- Scott R...

Appreciate help with Shorewall and VPN
...''m connected to the internet via VPN and I got problems with configuring Shorewall. Any help is appreciated. This is my setup: - Gentoo Linux laptop (kernel gentoo-dev-sources-2.6.8.1) with Shorewall 2.0.4 (setup for Standalone one interface) and iptables 1.2.11 - VPN client is "vpnc" from http://www.unix-ag.uni-kl.de/~massar/vpnc/ (Free client for Cisco VPN routing software) - WLAN card that is configured to use dhcp This is the way I connect: 1. The WLAN card (eth1) gets a non nonrfc1918 IP address assigned by a dhcp server 2. I start the VPN client vpnc. It connects...

short vpnc article
Akemi-san has suggested that I turn the following post into a wiki article. (The article would be a bit better organized, since if one bothers to follow the thread, you'll see that I found that one can use the pcf2vpnc in Dag's rpm without worrying about having a plain text password.) http://www.centos.org/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=18444&forum=38&post_id=67625 If approved, I'll get it done by next weekend. (I know that Ralph has told me it's alright to post articles without permi...

Cisco PIX vpn software
Anyone got a resource on setting up a CentOS box to connect to a Cisco PIX 5xx VPN using IPSec? I don't know if it matters but an important part of functionality would be split tunneling, I need to maintain that from the windows side of functionality. Thanks! jlc

vpnc versus Shorewall problem
...trator box inside this network (172.17.0.1). I also get the addresses of two DNS servers assigned by this DHCP server (10.0.251.1, 10.0.251.2) which are ofcourse outside my reach as long as I don''t have a connection to the VPN Gateway. I can connect to the Cisco VPN Gateway using "vpnc", a free alternative to the Cisco client, which makes use of a "tun0" device. The "tun0" device also receives an IP address from a DHCP server, something like 10.26.80.x How do I setup Shorewall, so that I can connect to the Cisco Concentrator while at the same time bl...

...VPN client. Now, I'm looking for a way to establish a VPN tunnel to the same SonicWall device under Linux. Installing the SonicWall VPN client under wine 0.9.27 failed ans as far as I understand a posting of 2006 it's doubtful if this type of software will ever be installable under wine. vpnc is not troublefree either, as I don't have a translation table for the terms used by vpnc to those used by SonicWall and a I could not find any configuration pattern for SonicWall devices either. Additionally vpnc seems to be specialized on Cisco devices which reportedly use some sort of a pseu...

Default source address
Hi, I''m using vpnc to connect to a vpn. The VPN-GW wants me to use him as a default route. So I used source-routing to differ between my physical ethernet and the tunnel: ip rule add from w.x.y.z table 20 ip route add default via tun0 table 20 Everything works fine, as I have a client to set my inet4-srcaddress. VPN connection before login
I imagine something like Cisco AnyConnect on Windows, where you can connect before login to the machine. So afterwards user specific network shares are available and can be connect via scripts. Cisco AnyConnect on 6.2 32-bit?
Grr.. I'm pulling my hair out trying to get the Cisco AnyConnect client to work under 6.2 32-bit. Seems like there is always 1 thing preventing my from using the latest centos release as my sole workstation. It was actually working on a new install for about half a day. I rebooted and now it won't connect. If I boot another vm (ubuntu or oel 5.7) the same client works. Im using version

Question about connecting to a cisco vpn concentrator
My company uses a cisco firewall, and I have currently got my firewall (shorewall + racoon etc) connected to the company firewall via a vpn client called vpnc. Works ok, but doesn''t to rekeying, so it dies after about 4 hours. I should be able to use racoon to do this, but I can''t get the config right. Any hints? wcn
