Windows 2000 Profiles Through Freeswan VPN
Hello, I have setup a samba server at my office as a PDC it stores the profiles on the server fine. I can access the profiles from any computer in the office just fine. My problem is that I work from home 4 days a week and need to access my work profile. I currently VPN into the office network via freeswan. I can log into the the domain from the vpn'd connection and I can access the samba shares. I have samba setup as a WINS server and everything is working great. I am just unable to access my Win2k profile through the VPN. Can anyone tell me how to fix th...

externip/localnet
Hi All, Is it possible to specify more than 1 localnet? I know this is an odd question. I have a customer that has multiple sites linked by VPN. Main range is 192.168.33.0/24 and a remote site is 10.1.1.0/24 We want to allow some access to the public IP address at the main site. For this to work I need to use the externip and localnet directive. If I do this it rewrites the SDP with the external IP address of the main site on dialog with...

Domain Logins across VPN
I've been trying to get this to work for a few days now. I read that domain requests are sent via broadcast, and to use WINS to get around it. Well, I've enabled the WINS server on my Samba PDC, and told the BDC's on each VPN segment that the PDC is a WINS server. WINS resolution works apparently, I can sit on a VPN'd network segment and ping machines across the VPN via their NETBIOS name, but I can't log into the domain. Windows tells me it can't find the domain. Is there something I'm missing?

CentOS Digest, Vol 74, Issue 31
...script) if there is a suitable insertion point. It would be really good if it could be done outside of rc.sysint in some predictable place. We're "stuck" (but not unhappily) with this kernel/rev for the foreseeable future - i have over 100 of these systems and they are housed behind VPN'd networks, which mitigates somewhat their inevitable vulnerabilities. regards, - csawyer 30. Roaming Users
...the dial plan. Does any one have a handy link to that message Any way, my example: a company has a number of branch offices. A few implementation scenarios include: a) One central hosted * against which all phones register. Phones requiring TFTP loads will need a local server or some sort of VPN'd TFTP connection to the hosted server. The canreinvite parameter on SIP phones can get complicated if we want to keep local calls local to the branch, but yet all off-net calls go to the hosted PBX for transmission to a gateway. This scenario is conducive to a roaming extension that can go f...

From what I've seen, all AD related queries resolve fine with it, too. > For every DC and per site, you have 2 sites correct? 2 physical sites (192.168.17/24 and 192.168.16/24) in different subnets, but they're organized as a single logical site in AD and VPN'd together via default gateway. > I suggest, per site, 2 DC of the same site, 1 DC of the remote as backup. > Look at this, explanation is below it. Can ONLY log in as root-console perms problem
I did yum update the other day and it downloaded and installed a bunch of stuff, including a kernel. Didn't have time to reboot until today. today when I reboot, I get a message something like this during boot (from memory since it doesn't seem to be saved in dmesg anywhere): CRITICAL unknown class console at line 23 in /etc/security/console.perms and when the system finishes booting,

I want to connect to a l2tp server from centos.
Hey John, I do not require encryption at all, it's a secure and internal channel but it requires me to connect via either pptp or l2tp. This is the reason I am asking. I had the chance of finding the SoftEther Project which gives a lot in terms of VPN Client and Server. At: http://www.softether-download.com/en.aspx But yet to try it. Also they have all sorts of beta versions but not something they call stable in their downloads. I think I will try to use their product if I will not find an example on how to use l2tp without ipsec encryption....

I've dont same here.. I have one site but 4 subdomains and 6 subnets. Now, that VPN part, keep that in mind, after all things are done i have questions about that one also. But lets not do that all at once. > > > I suggest, per site, 2 DC of th...

Debugging Samba is a total PITA and this needs to improve
Once again, something with Samba thirty bazillion components broke. Once again, my choices for logging are "nothing" or "15 MB/s spread of ten different files, because 'client authentication failed' totally needs to be lower priority than malloc debug info". Once again, none of these messages is actually able to convey what broke, where, why. Why is it impossible for
