Bitrate voodoo
I've been playing around with the settings for lower, nominal, and upper bitrate in the vorbis_info struct, and no matter what values I set, I get the exact same output as with all three set to zero (ie. the example encoder). Am I correct to assume that the value should be given in bits per second? Or is it in units of Kbps?

Problem with OpenGL
I'm using wine 20010326 to play Half Life. Works fine in software graphics mode, but not quite fast enough to be playable. In OpenGL mode, it runs at about 5 fps, and I get no textures. I have a Voodoo 3 3000 AGP. OpenGL works fine in native Linux (I get about 120 fps in the 'gears' program). Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I can do to get to the bottom of this? -- Steve Loft

If this were something less dynamic and cool, I''d probably import it into Excel or some equivalent and then do some find-and-replace voodoo to create the SQL statements to enter it into the database. What would you do if you were doing this in rails and wanted to make sure this data was inserted when you run a migrate task? Will --------------------------------- Yahoo! Messenger with Voice. HPEC performance
Does this make a significant improvement? The box in question I was going to try this with has a 4 port TDM card w/ plenty of horsepower, but I do intend to later migrate to a Soekris unit running Astlinux and therefore might not have the power to run it after. If the difference is significant, I may move to an ITX board so I could use a bigger CPU, but only if the hassle is worthwhile. Any

nVIDIA on CentOS 3.3
Hey, I tried it. The short answer is that nVIDIA cards are OK for text, but may not work at all under X. I downloaded the 3.3 ISO's, and burned new CD's. I did an X desktop install on a test bench P3 600 MHz system with a 4.3 gig drive. I did the install with a known-to-work Voodoo Banshee card to get the system going. I used a Mag DX1495 monitor, which I know does not to work on Linux with nVIDIA cards (but which works just fine running Windows with nVIDIA cards). Everything installed OK with only a minor glitch toward the end (just when going into the reboot, after sett...

Draggable question
Should / will a drag and drop work on a form element (select menu, text box, etc), and more specifically is it simply a matter of defining a new draggable and setting it to the id of the element, or do I need more voodoo in my mojo :) to accomplish it ? TIA Stuart

Adding machine accounts with Ghost
...f this functionality was ever achieved? We just replaced out NT4 PDC with samba and I'm facing this exact problem. I do not relish the thought of having to "touch" every PC after Ghosting, nor do I care for the idea of having to muck around with SysPrep, which seems like so much voodoo and without which I have lived happily until now. I'm using Symantec Ghost Console 8.2. Clients are XP Pro SP2. Thanks, ...ROMeyn -- signat-url: http://www2.potsdam.edu/prescor/signat-url.htm

Page width figures in Latex
bRotheRs & sisteRs, I am once again attempting to learn enough Latex voodoo to get something done, and failing comically. Re: more about nVIDIA on Linux^h^h^h^h^h RedHat
...when blank when booting up) on a computer running RedHat 9. (A different monitor had been used to install RedHat 9, and that monitor worked OK. Later, my high school friend got a different monitor, which went blank on boot up.) I solved the problem for my friend by swapping his nVIDIA card for a Voodoo Banshee. (And then I upgraded him to CentOS-3.) 2) I tried doing a Debian X desktop install on my test bench system with the nVIDIA TNT2 card plugged in. Debian's X install is more manual (less automatic) than under CentOS. I had to tell it which driver to use ("nv"), which I foun...

How do I use the developers version of Wine 1.1.20?
...ays that I don't have Wine installed. The reason I'm trying to do this is because the Wine in the repository won't even install Warhammer or EQ2 (for example), and the steps to install Wine manually get about as far as uncompressing the thing to my computer. lol I sure wish I knew what voodoo your clever Linux users were using to get this program to work right. I had thought I understood computers pretty well until I installed Jaunty Jackalope and tried using Wine [Embarassed] [Shocked]
