IDLE dropping EXISTS events on mass message arrival
Hi, I'm not sure if this is some throttling/DoS protection or a bug. I didn't see notice anything like it mentioned looking at the NEWS file from hg, this is on 2.1.7 on Debian stable. I have a client doing IDLE on INBOX.vomiteer. When individual messages arrive with some time interval in between them, I get EXISTS events for each message as expected. However, when I store a bunch of

OT: A test with dependent samples.
I am appealing to the general collective wisdom of this list in respect of a statistics (rather than R) question. This question comes to me from a friend who is a veterinary oncologist. In a study that she is writing up there were 73 cats who were treated with a drug called piroxicam. None of the cats were observed to be subject to vomiting prior to treatment; 12 of the cats were subject to

definitions v. plugins
i was looking at the simple text recipes wiki: http://reductivelabs.com/trac/puppet/wiki/SimpleTextRecipes and based on that wrote something that can ensure a certain variable in a config file is set to a specific value, using a specific delimiter as requested (defaults to a space). this seems to work great at managing all sorts of unix and mac config files (sshd_config, hostconfig on macs).

Logistic Regression Question: Risk Threshold
Hi, I am working on problem 2 of Chapter 8 in Data Analysis and Graphics Using R and don't know how to approach the second half of the question: In the data set (an artificial one of 3121 patients, that is similar to a subset of the data analyzed in Stiell et al., 2001) head.injury, obtain a logistic regression model relating clinically.important.brain.injury to other variables. Patients

Static/shared linking woes
Greetings. A straight-out-of-the-cd Slackware 9. A straight-out-of-the-tar Samba 3.0.0. # cd source # ./configure --with-automount --with-smbmount (...configure ran...) # make (...make ran...) # du ... What?? The bin/ directory amounted to over 400 MB! smbd over 24 MB, when the 2.3.x one I have is 1.7 MB? I presumed it erroneously linked all the libraries as static. So I did: # ./configure

Firewall piercing - The Specified network name is no longer available.
Hi all. I'm trying to set up one of my Unix machines at home so I can access my stuff there via SMB from the Internet at large (read: from Windows-using clients'). I'm behind two NATting devices-- the lame-p Prestige DSL modem provided by Sprint DSL (a.k.a. Earthlink?) and a more typical home DSL/cable gateway device. I've poked holes in BOTH of these devices on ports 137, 138,

SUCCESS - 512 Simultaneous Calls with Digital Recording
List users, Over the last few days we have been working with MCI's development lab to test our Asterisk setup. We were using a piece of hardware called an Abacus 5000 that is capable of creating and terminating thousands of SIP calls. Initially, we could not get past 64 simultaneous digitally recorded calls without having call quality issues including dropped calls. We identified an

log output and browse list problem
Samba List: I have a multisite setup connected via T1/VPN. Each site has it's own SMB server (Debian 4.1) and between 6 and 70 PCs connected to it at a time. Each is a PDC for it's respective site, on different domain names. Any given site may have to access files stored on a different site's server, so SMB traffic is allowed between locations. We've had a problem for a while now

latex code in R -> convert to pdf
hi, is it possible to convert latex code to pdf in R (like a latex-program would do it)? Is there a package that comes with this capabilities? My problem is that I want to generate tables automatically - and I can't use a latex editor at that computer ... Besides latex ... are there good ways to generate tables in R? thanks for any suggestions!

New Asterisk user with a goal
Hi All, I am rather new to the asterisk world, and new to VoIP in general, my question seems rather simple compared to some of the topics under discussion here :) I have done quite a bit of reading and fiddling trying to get a system set up, to no avail yet basically myself and a friend (both behind NAT and Firewalls, but able to set up the firewall rules/port mappings ourself) are interesting in

Slow Samba Printer initialisation, status, and printing
OK, I have been wrestling with this for two weeks now, so somebody please help ! We have an existing Samba Print Server, running RedHat linux, kernel 2.2.19, that runs fine, but is a P133 with 64 mb ram. So we built a new PC, the slowest thing we could buy, a duron 1 ghz with 512 mb RAM. Old printer server is running Samba 2.2.5, new printer server is running samba 2.2.5, and Slackware 8.1,
