Suggestions for packages / help / index (long mail)
...ng package for categroy "misc" and each would also be listed in it's category ("Graphics",...). Each of those package would have a maintainer and a new mailing list (say R-misc) could be set up to talk about pieces of code that could enter such or such package. Yes, I am volonteer to maintain one of those. There is some work here for all 6 points, but not so much. What is great is that we already have most of the necessary stuff. And we only use KEYWORDS file... Please let me know what you think about those suggestions. If there is interest, I may ask for others volont...

Status of OpenSSL 1.1 support - Thoughts
...ting done so far. There is no easy migration path. More precisely, there is only one migration path, and it's not pretty. To allow applications to do the jump at their pace, you have to propose both interfaces and mark the old one as deprecated (and remove it in a subsequent release). I'd volonteer to do this but given the gigantism of the task, any help would be appreciated (not to mention that even if Joel agrees with the idea of having the 1.1 API in LibreSSL, that does not mean he would agree with my strategy). > Given that you got the facts wrong, your conclusions are misleading >...

New FAQ on Echo Cancellation
...FAQ Still looking for more advice, tips and ideas on how to document this complicated area. There's a lot of questions on the subject on the mailing list and we need some advice on how to locate the source and what to do, how you can configure Asterisk for various situations. Any more writers volonteering? Step forward, please :-) /Olle PS. Thank you for adding to the consultants list. It's starting to look very impressive, covering large areas of the globe. Not many consultants with working IP telephony connections listed, though ;-) Add your SIP or IAX address, it's a proof of concept....

Winehq / WineX?
I know this is an incredibly simple question, but I don't think I've seen anyone in this NG ask about it as best I can remember. Basically, what's the pros/cons of WineX over the standard version from Winehq? I have no problems with compiling from source, but in terms of application support and suchlike, could anyone with experience with both versions of WINE give any advice?

How to select the scale parameter for Gabor transform (Rwave)?
Dear list, I am trying to choose the scale parameter for the cgt transform but I don't know how to do it. In time I would like to be able to separate points 30 samples apart, and in frequency I would like to separate bands 0.04 Hz apart. I tried the two approaches described below and they gave me different results. I would appreciate advise on how to do this. The Rwave Gabor transform uses

...impossible situation. If, for whatever reason, you realize too late that you completely forgot about steps 3 to 9, you can still mitigate part of the havoc done by doing step 2 after step 10, enabling the forgotten migration path. Status of OpenSSL 1.1 support - Thoughts
As far as I can see, here is a summary of the situation, and there's a point to this, but I only make it in step (4), needing the first three steps to set up a background to keep my own thoughts clear: 1) Fedora (via Jakub) shows it's possible to patch OpenSSH. 2) OpenVPN (via gert) shows it's possible to build a 'shim' of sorts that allows code to work with libreSSL and
