Speex client?
Hello, On the announcement page for Icecast 2.3 it mentions "Streaming support for ogg speex, ogg flac, ogg midi". I've googled around and not found any free clients that support streaming speex. I looked at svn for libshout2 and it doesn't seem to support speex and skimming through the list archives I only see mention of speex last February, which seemed to indicate it would

Changing expired NT password
...now everything is fine. Is there a way to mimic the forced password change of the XP login with samba tools? I'd rather not have to find an empty XP machine each time my password expires. Similarly, is there a way to find out how many days I have before my password expires? Thanks, Jeremy Volkman

FFmpeg Theora encoding patch
Hi, Attached is my patch to add theora encoding to ffmpeg's libavcodec (by using libtheora). I am requesting help to fix the bug I mention below and am seeking general comments before I submit the patch properly. Files encoded using this encoder have a problem playing in VLC. The files will not play unless "Drop late frames" has been unticked in the advanced video settings.

Patch to support timing of Speex stream
Here is a small patch to enable speex streams to be timed when being sent by libshout (I hope attachments can make it). There is also a fix for the defining of HAVE_THEORA. The speex.c file goes into the src directory. I've tested with 8KHz and 16KHz files from 11 seconds to 180 minutes. Cheers, William. -------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was scrubbed... Name:

Choppy video with alpha7
Hello, I use my system for time-shifting local TV and I usually re-encode the capture card's MPEG2 into theora to create much smaller files. However since upgrading from alpha 5 to alpha 7 I can no longer do this. The problem seems that the bit rates are too high and the resulting files are unplayable (tried mplayer, vlc, and theora_play). I've built the alpha7 libtheora rpm (using the

Strange occurrence
You mentioned that your systems are running Fedora Core. At 4:00 every morning cron runs the updatedb script to update the locate database. That script looks for files on all local files systems on the machine. When it does this it causes starvation of memory so the kswap process activates, while that process is looking for candidates to move to swap space your regular user processes will
